  4. First I have to say, this is one of the best if not the BEST swapmeet (and show to a lesser degree to me personally) around here and don't want it to go away either. That being said, my blame would be mainly on the fairgrounds staff, which I believe the club is forced to use. I was there at 7am Sat at gate 15 for "specialty parking" only to be turned around and referred back to gate 17 (which is the general parking line) by the fairground staff stating that "they (the club) told everyone the wrong gate”. I pulled up to gate 17 with a mix of old and new cars and waited, went through 3 different check points with ALL fairground staff not knowing what to do. I finally got to the line for specialty parking and told the club about it and they were NOT happy.

There was A LOT of seller spaces open, but I think some used the loophole about paying the $85 for a swap space for both days and just used it to park in (as it was $50 for 2 people and a vehicle in specialty parking). Sadly I did see a few sellers picking it up at around 11am on Saturday. Some pricing was big, but it just means you have to dig more :D.

Doesn't matter to me as I'll keep going as long as they put on the show/swap................

Lots to see there. Pretty hard to see it all. Hope those of you that could not make it enjoy! 9A8CC406-3EE8-49AE-885E-F43492BBB148.jpeg

Had a great time, did my traditional barbque with all my friends from all the car clubs and I got to see all my swappmeet buddies I used to sell with.Happy to see it's back to the old format of years ago. Sales were terrible if you were hauling out big heavy items like fenders ,hoods and drive train parts. Guys selling small trinket parts you put on your car on last did well.
Very nice cars sold but project cars did not due to the high cost of restoration and a lack of young guys showing interest and having the skills to build their own cars.
The other factor is that 30 percent of the car guys that lived in California have moved to Arizona ,Texas,Florida, and Tennessee and Florida .
The L.A. roadster guys did a great job and were well organized but they needed to advertise a bit more. Spectators were bleak on Thursday and Friday and saterday was good but they were not buying much due to our older age ,the high cost of real estate and zoning laws in California that don't let you store parts or bodies in your back yard anymore.
I am happy to hear the L.A. Roadster club did ok and will be back next year and so will I .
Yes the sad truth is if you looked at the crowds ,there were no twenty year olds or young families walking around and the high price of gas, motels and resteraunts didn't help either.

My observation on LARS and the Grand National is that Friday is mostly retirees who probably already have most of what they need so my sales were very small. Saturday I did better but it still seemed to be lots more looking than buying. It is still the best swap in So Cal so definitely worth going.
