Here it’s in the truck of the guy that bought it from me Friday at the show…

Now it’s sitting on a trailer at the show! Hope if someone did buy it they do a build thread here on the HAMB so I can see how it turns out. @tingezzer already did a bunch of work on it by fixing the firewall and rear quarters. Glad I came to my senses and passed it on!

There was quite a bit of concern from club members and all us local attendees if the show would be a success after the years of cancellations, but the Saturday attendance was huge including the roadsters, preferred parking and swap spaces. Many decent deals on parts and cars in the swap and some very interesting rare cars. I'd never seen a '38 Ford 4-door phaeton before. Great show and as always the LA Roadster members were well organized and the show was well run. All of us local enthusiasts were very happy that the show was successful and all look forward to next year.

Thanks for posting these photos. Looks like another great LARS with lots of NOS (Neat Old Stuff).

I'm going to offer my opinion of this years show and it probably won't be a popular one. I have attended every show since 1979 except one and the two cancelled shows in 2020 and 2021. The attendance at this years show was the lowest I have ever seen. Look at the background in the pictures.
Where are all the people? I arrived at the show at 5 am Friday morning and drove straight to my
swap space. I would estimate that 50% of the swap spaces were empty (unsold). I stayed at my space
all day and had to cut the price they would normally bring and still no takers. Not all that many shoppers. Finally sold an NOS pair
of Firestone dirt track tires to make my trip a success. Ask the other swappers for their thoughts.
Again, this is my opinion but I feel the LA Roadster Club lost money on this years event. I am worried about the future of this event. I left for home at 8am Saturday so I don't know what the turnout was.
Hope it was huge and next years show comes back bigger than ever. This has been a must attend event
for me for the last 40 years and I don't want it to end.
    Sincerely,
    CKH

  24. Well I would say for sellers. If they wanted to sell they either needed to have the right or of a good price. I got one like less people at a swap as a buyer. One thing that does get me is one year there was a crazy amount of rental EZgo scooters everywhere. It was about the time I had it with LARS. Now it’s just tame. If you took your time there were some good deals. Just not on 32 ford stuff. Except for that yellow delivery. That was cool.

How about the AMBR winner of 1951, the 2nd roadster to win that title: DSC_5519.JPG DSC_5520.JPG DSC_5522.JPG DSC_5523.JPG DSC_5524.JPG

Saturday was definitely a lot bigger, and better than the previous years before covid. I'm sure they covered their costs and made a little money, enough to do it again. I hope!

To all who only attended on Friday, the attendance was low because many still were working and didn't arrive until Friday night or Saturday morning. Saturday the swap area more than doubled in size and the number of cars, both roadsters and preferred parking was just about full. When I receive the stats for the numbers I'll post them. Again it was a great event and the prices listed in the swap area were affected by many issues including the price of gas and inflation. Hope all will continue to attend next year.

There were a lot of good deals to be had, maybe not first thing Friday morning, but by Friday afternoon, that blue 32 grill shell you posted that's marked $750, I saw it marked down to $400. The same seller had a 4 carb intake for a Buick Nailhead V8 with linkage and everything for $250.00 I told him he wasn't asking enough, and he told me "then buy it". I wasn't looking for Nailhead parts, I don't have a Nailhead, I did have my eyes out for other things and didn't want to spend what cash I had on something I wasn't going to use, but it was very tempting. Anyway, people will always complain, but the truth is there were deals to be had for those willing to make them.

  29. Saw a lot yblock finned valve covers near 200.00 or offer. OG which I thought about but would rather spend that on working parts as opposed to blingy parts.
