Technical Picked up a couple axles late 40s KB????Oh. And found a bucket list car

  1. Picked up these front and rear axles. The truck it came from is a late 40s international
    5.5 inch bolt pattern.
The rear is a Dana 44. Super clean and spears to have a few new parts. Haven’t opened it up yet. Looks to be around 61.5 wide (wheel mounting surface). Has bendix brakes.

The front has a new disc set up. (I’m more concerned about the make not the brakes)

Hat style on a separate hub.

  2. The truck had a clean chassis but a hodge podge of parts. Late 40s GM bed, ford engine and trans.
So these pieces could be whatever.
Would kinda like to know what I hauled off
    I’m no IH expert.

  3. The bucket list car.

36 cabriolet. No chassis. Just the shell.
Belongs to a friend of the guy that owns the shop.
Plans to build it but…… I’d like to change his mind if possible.

  5. Has a gm look on those spindles.
    But I’m no bimder person.
Might keep the Dana and trade off the front axle.
Perfect width (rear) for a lot of rides and a big ford pattern.
    I’ll check the gear ratio.
I’ve got the stock 44 under a merc. Might could use some of it
Appears to be resealed and new brakes and lines

the number on the axle looks more like a binder number, it's definitely not a GM, Ford, or Mopar number.

I expect the ratio is close to 4:1. If it's a 44 you can probably change it though.

  7. Yep. It’s cast 44 on top.
The 4:10s ain’t bad for an OD set up. I’m a old engine, low hp cruiser type. 4:10s-3:73sare ok for my set up.

  8. This shop does late model/modern builds.
Lots of modern suspension and engines. I sometimes end up with cool parts from this shop.
Old engines and suspension parts usually hit the dumpster or scrap bin.
The 36 has been sitting in that spot for a decade. The original chassis was sold with ideas for using the latest and greatest stuff.
I’d love to pick that body up and go back with an OE chassis with vintage pieces.

Looks like a "street rod" firewall on the cabriolet.

There are TWO 1936 Cabriolet bodies, short top and the long one with the back seat. I find one far more attractive than the other.

  15. I know.
Would love to talk the guy out of it.
I’d sell my merc junk to grab a 35/36 coupe or comv.
It mostly just the sheet metal and roof bows. Have no clue if any other parts are there.

Is it in a storage locker the guy is paying rent on? If so tell him the body is not gaining any value, it costs him money to keep it. I bought a car project for four grand the guy paid rent on for 20 years!

  18. Just found out the current 36 owner overpaid for it.
Doesn’t look promising but never hurts to ask.
