Everything that I own has a stick shift. Even my O.T. daily driver 84 S-10. It was an automatic when i bought it, and the first thing that I did was swap in a T5 5 speed.

Each car has a Muncie 4 speed. The 59 GMC has a Saginaw 4 speed, with the 3.5 first gear. The 55 Cameo has an original 3 speed overdrive with a Hurst Syncro-Loc floor shift.

My old man Rambler has one.

My Chevy II kind of has one...no clutch pedal, but I still have to shift every gear.

How’s this 1940 Chevrolet with a Richmond 2.88 low gear 4 speed behind a 52 302 GMC. Original Gasser built by Blair’s in Pasadena in 1962. From the mid 70’s thru the mid 90’s set speed records on El Mirage and Bonneville. Now a street legal hot rod in Huntington Beach. 8009240B-3672-4379-AC86-E36B5E7BCA6E.jpeg E368928C-61B8-4CEE-A02B-089DB731D19D.jpeg

My hot rods are at 50/50, but my wife's car is an auto (has a turbo and a floor shift, does that count?).
The coupe is a 5 speed, for as long as my left knee will allow it (some days are pretty rough).
My truck has an auto, but there is a functioning shift stick on the floor, its for the 2x4 to 4x4 change, plus my wife does drive it occasionally (you wouldn't want to witness her driving a manual trans).

  9. To me stick shift shifts are the essence of hot rodding/racing, Ive run a muncie m20, Doug Nash street 5 speed, Hemi 833 adaped to chevy from liberty's gears, a G Force T-101 4 speed, and now a super t-10 iron cased 2.64 4 speed. Quickest ever was 9.63 at 141 with the G Force.

My senior year in high school. Close to graduation time. We were in the hallway. My buddy Rick and a couple of mutual friends of ours approached me. Somebody said to me, "Hey Rick... Rick can make his automatic transmission sound like a stick shift!" Rick had a self-satisfied smile on his face.

Obviously, we were young and didn't know a lot, but trying to do cool or at least fun things, you know.

I was never a big talker. Certainly didn't make a habit of talking down to anybody or one-upmanship. And I didn't even own a car with a 4-speed. But I saw the perfect opportunity.

    I responded... (with a smile)
"Well... I can make my 4-speed sound like an automatic."
They kind of looked at me for a couple seconds, blinked a couple times, then with nods of recognition, started making sounds of awe.
    Like, "Oh...oooooooh..."
They all walked away impressed. Except for Rick. He walked away looking defeated.
I only meant it as a joke.

I’d like to see more of this. Lots of “out of the box” thinking going on here. What engine is that?

  13. MY COUPE HAS A M21 MUNCIE. PLAN ON KEEPING IT AS LONG AS MY BAD KNEE WILL HOLD UP. HAVE A TURBO 400, FOR WHEN THE TIME COMES. IT'S SO MUCH FUN WITH THE STICK THOUGH....

That is a Mercruiser 470 engine, they come with a 460 head. I have used a Boss 429 head. Injector is Arias big block chevy. Its mechanical, pump running off the end of the cam. It has lots and lots of custom made parts.
