  3. I remember walking into Tognottis speed shop in California as a 15 year old and marveling at the vastness of it all.

Tognottis still has a lot on display; Sacramento Vintage Ford cut back and Summit Racing, Sparks, NV has cut way back - it is great to have online services but, often works better if you can compare parts at store

index.jpg images.jpg I remember riding my bike to a speed shop in Devon, PA or there abouts when I was in junior high. Don't know if it still exists but as a kid I was in heaven. Good memories from almost 60 years ago.

With a little help from Mr. Google determined it was in Berwyn not Devon.

  9. I remember my first trip to Honest Charliey's back in the 60's, there was nothing to compare to that experience. HRP

I worked in a JC Penny auto center in the late 70s and the store I worked at had a lot of that stuff on display in the showroom, up until about 6 months before they shut down the auto centers. The whole deal went away pretty fast!

  12. I'm 51, & I remember good ol' fashioned speed shops. In mpls/st paul, we had MAS. & racers exchange. real speed shops. But, then, there were auto parts stores that you could buy a starter & a tunnel ram, a pair of G60X15 & cragar mags. Places like 10,000 auto parts. Big wheel rossi, were the two fun places i used to ride my bike down to, just to look at all the hot rod stuff

I've seen this picture before, for some reason I love it. I don't know anything about "Moms", anyone have any more info?

No speed shops in my little town when I was growing up. After I got my license and a car or two in '68, I bought a lot of goodies from Western Auto, and Economy Auto (later known as Otasco). Western Auto was my favorite.

We had a Super Rods Shop in Richmond Virginia, but it closed just about the time I moved there . Not my fault,:p. A few other shops but I in old Virginny but never took pics when I was in them. They were always just supposed to get there .:(

My Dad had a speed shop in the 50’s/60’s . Always remembered his boring bar and him widening racing wheels .
