I am there - although access is unfortunately limited as I do not have a car that is modified enough to join the VHRA so no pit access, I will however get better shots and video tomorrow!

I have been a member of the VHRA for quite a while now. They are very particular about the cars they let in. I originally applied with my 30 Tudor which was great in every way except I was running coil overs in the rear. No acceptance. I then applied with my 32 Bantam hot rod correct in every way, it was built in 1962. No acceptance. The Bantam is based on the British Austin so not a true American car. I then was building a Willy's touring which they liked and I was in. I traded the Willys for a 31 Model A roadster pickup, keeping it a banger but a nicely modified engine, suspension and wheels. Hope I am still good. We had reservations for 2019 for Pendine, but COVID put a stop to that, still had to pay for the accomodation. They really know how to do it over there.

My Friend Doug Brennan drove his 34 coupe from Scotland for it.
The best thing there from the photos I saw was the Aluminum streamliner from Sweden

  18. With that new monstrosity being built to overlook the beach, I sure hope the future of this great event isn't jeopardized!
    Thanks for the photos!!

As far as I,m aware, the local council fully support this event as pendine sands has been used historically for land speed races since 30,s? and the area benefits from the tourism events like this attracts.

  22. Glad to hear that. There are so many instances of drag racing venues being shut down after the land around them is developed into housing developments surround them, and the new homeowners bitch to the politicians!

I believe the car hails from Sweden. Picture of engines stolen from facebook page of Nick Pettitt. Over 300 pictures of the event including several of this machine. twin strait 8.jpg

The question is ,"Did Mart and his Tudor make the event?"

Yes, 2 in-line 8 cylinder Buick engines coupled to make a 16 cylinder in-line beast...the whole car was built from scratch by Glenn and his team from Sweden. It was finished just days before Pendine and made its first shake-down runs there...
