    Thanks!
Installed the transom cap and motor plate that I had powder coated gloss white. It’s all back sealed with 5200 453E235D-4B95-4E5A-8C88-A3C930EB1DF7.jpeg

  6. @LBCD It’s still frozen here, but…how’s your boat coming along? I’ve been peeking under the cover of mine and all looks good. It helps to feed the mice a steady diet of poison.

Chucky, got some more work done, need to order a couple of cables for the motor, paint the fenders, run all electrical, put the boat on the trailer and mount the motor in the next few weeks…maybe 25E31BF0-957C-4D22-B436-E13A359708AB.jpeg 0A4FEF64-9543-4862-897D-8966453628E4.jpeg FDD5F3B7-BD00-4645-830A-D4612844538E.jpeg B002FAA4-939B-4B57-9DAC-7E628735382D.jpeg 774C0E04-F155-4C47-8E29-7DC4C941EAEB.jpeg 01A87EAD-F1B9-474A-B3D8-C125AB76E769.jpeg 47FE6407-6EE8-4357-A30F-33FDD8C08CB2.jpeg 5C6A8EAD-6A47-4283-BCFF-EA58F2EBDE52.jpeg

Looks perfect. I am curious what you are going to do with the engine cowling.

  9. I purchased my control cables from Jegs. They are very nice quality and didn’t come with the “marine” price tag. And, Rebel Wiring worked with me to custom build my wire harness, granted I basically have a car engine in my boat. Your boat is looking good.

Roothhawg...I was thinking I could swap out the Yamaha decals and use the adhesive backed chrome raised letters I used on the hull spelling out "Biscayne" but not really sure what I'll end up doing.

Is the cowling black? The reason I ask is that I have always thought about doing exactly what you are doing. My hang up was always the cowling. The old school cowlings always have a perfect look and trying to replicate that is tough, but the reliability of today outboards far exceed those of that era. I don't wanna be the guy floating in the lake with the cowlings off, working on my motor...

The motor is a blue/gray color and very streamlined, not like a Merc tower of power which to me has the look. I got this motor because the Mercury I wanted was on back order for months and got a great deal on the Yamaha, I could not pass it up. The pic here is at the boat shop just for reference, mine is still in the crate at home.

Looking forward to mounting the motor and finishing up the trailer with lights and installing the fenders. Should be done in a month or 2

Thanks! Wired up the trailer and we are off the wooden bunks and back on the trailer. Hope to mount the motor today! E0111FF5-4276-4537-8FA9-EE09EFAFF965.jpeg A70CFACB-4A29-4B18-A0A1-16ECE78C5BAD.jpeg DC1C30E6-2360-4C31-9983-C42E91DF3895.jpeg

Just about done for now. Still have a few small things to do and one is to get the untitled trailer titled this Friday morning. Need to fab a windshield, maybe resemble a 40-50's split windshield from a wooden boat...still contemplating for now but we want to get out on the bay asap!

Finally got the boat on the water! The new motor needs a break in period so nothing over 2k rpm.

Took out the Lone Star into the Long Beach harbor and Naples Island. Need to change the prop to a 14 pitch instead of the 13 on there now and go with stainless steel….6k rpm at 32/33 mph. Need to bring WOT down to 5500 or just above that.
