Built a bracket for a set of 39 Chevy tail lights today. I don’t know if I’m digging the look, I want to get away from putting the lights in the panel under the deck lid. Thought these lights would be a bit different. What you all’s thoughts? 59D1EDA1-D79C-460D-895A-B8BF323FA238.jpeg 48B7B5B5-045B-4485-AA61-E79C6E36BB0F.jpeg

I like 39 Chevy taillights and I like where you have them.

I like the lights, where they are mounted, and how they look.
I just worry that they might be too low for the inattentive idiot drivers to see. (but then again, they won't see them no matter where they are mounted.)

Haven’t had a lot of progress on the roadster but I did order bun panel patches from Howell sheet metal. I did some trade labor with a buddy of mine so he’s putting them in for me. I’m shelling out some dollars to have him do more sheet metal fixin.
Come to find out the body is a a roadster pickup that someone put a turtle deck on at some point in its life. I haven’t been able to do squat on the T lately but I did find time to build a gauge cluster. I wanted something a bit different, sort of Auburn-Esque. I cut the bezel from and old piece of aluminum and used my router table and a carbide round over bit to ease the edges. Gave it a quick polish but I will do some more sanding before I put the Final polish on it. D787A846-02CB-4358-8234-0623D2CA421A.jpeg 397E449E-7CD2-458E-AB34-022EC05082F4.jpeg

I really like the way you made the curve of the bottom edge of the insert follow the bottom edge of the dash.

    Well done amigo.

Thanks! It’s a bit asymmetrical following the lower curve of the dash. I think it will do though.

I ran into a buddy this last Sunday that I might only see a few times a year, usually at a car show or swap meet. He said what’s going on I haven’t seen any progress on the H.A.M.B. I told him that the car is at a friends getting some sheet metal work done so there’s not to much to report. The only things I’ve accomplished are rebuilding the steering box and build a neat little tach cup.
I had this old toilet paper filled, finned oil filter sitting on the shelf for more years than I can remember. I took it apart and thought dang it looks like the right size for my tachometer and sure enough it was so I did a bit of cutting and polishing and came up with this. There ya go Tony that’s all I’ve done. 65AC2D59-8381-4E57-8A3E-95971E4C69E3.jpeg F6D2D16B-279A-4951-9B6E-93003802722B.jpeg 2FC37279-CBD7-4E48-8F24-AE6B4AC665A2.jpeg

I had to do a double take. I thought that was a brake drum laying beside it. “I thought how big is this tach?”

I dropped the middle section of my 26 dash to accommodate the 4 5/8” Classic instruments speedometer and tach.

Something you might also want to consider is painting the backside white like I did to make it easier to see under the dash if you ever have to crawl under there.

I'm getting a little too old to crawl under my dash, that's why I left the gas tank door in my cowl.
I like your tach housing, I can't wait to see how you mount it. I think your other
    brackets are well thought out.

  20. Hey Tim let me thank you for the update, that's a pretty cool idea turning something into a useable piece always work out to the advantage, very cool. I know we have different build ideas on cars but it is always fun to see what's churning in your mine when you start and build something new. I should have walk you up to the Biscayne and showed you where I was on it and just shoot the bull with you seem we never see each other like back in the old days when we were building model cars, it's strange how people get to know each other and then our lives change and we break way and on occasion we run back into each other, I miss those days, well that's how life work so we just move on, thanks again for dropping this post, it was good to see your sons build also I always like that year of Rambler, he's done a great job on the car. You guys take care we'll be seeing you around. Later Tony

Ordered some switch’s the other day so I threw the dash together to see what it’s going to look like. 8F5AC606-45F8-4CBF-ABC6-8BC7D22AA907.jpeg C063870E-9222-42EE-B09A-FDB402648678.jpeg

I’m a terrible sheetmetal guy so my buddy did some more work for me. Cowl vent/ gas filler door is done and the firewall is patched. I’m ready to get it home and do some more chassis work. 9B6CD4C6-7442-4198-A9CE-3F242FBCC6BE.jpeg F45BA4E8-49A1-4691-855D-FF92188B8108.jpeg 33ADE9C6-4F4E-46B5-AA7B-B4DC279D7EC3.jpeg

I have the roadster back home.
