  1. I’ll agree. Recreating the Graffiti 32 grill fail doesn’t need to happen

This one has been done quite a few times, but this version no longer exists in its “close to movie prop form.” I’d do it much like this.

I agree with Building your own car, But that is not what this thread is about. If I was gonna clone a hot rod For myself It would probably be The "Tom Mcmullen Roadster"

The X-51 was exhibited at the Petersen a few years ago, and it looked exactly as it should.

The first HRM cover car was the Reg Schlemmer T. Roy Brizio built a tribute car for the 50th anniversary of HRM, and it is still exhibited in the Petersen Vault.

Dick Williams' beautiful AMBR T has finally been put right, and with that my restoration hopes are fulfilled.

With the way a lot of customs changed quite a lot, especially after the show scene got out of hand, there's a lot of scope for creating separate clones of customs at different stages of their existence.

Not the same thing, really, but in the world of high-end cars of the early '30s, I'd like to see a recreation of the low-slung 4-door body which was built for the Dubonnet Hispano-Suiza H6, the proto-Knee-Action ifs demonstration car, before it became the Xenia. Few photos exist of that; I think I've seen all of them.

Dawie's suggestion of the earlier-bodied Dubonnet Hisso reminds me that a Packard executive named Ed Macauley had a stunning boattail roadster body built on a V12 chassis in 1933, dubbed the "Brown Bomber". For reasons unknown to me, the car was rebodied after only a year or two. I've never seen the later body, but the earlier Bomber was low and beautiful, and would be a worthwhile design to reconstruct:

I realize that the Packard is probably OT for the HAMB, but I think the car is handsome in a way that should appeal to hot rodders.

Stunning car, definitely fits perimeter of HAMB! Wasn't there a show only Auburn cabin that was in destroyed in fire?

Who doesn't love the Joe Nitti roadster????

It has inspired some to build a close resemblance of it, and the original has been restored to its former self ....... where is it now??

  14. The main ‘some’ in this case would be Pat G, original resto…good question.

As I've mentioned before, I hope this one turns up someday - Doug Patterson's '49 Dodge Wayfarer, the "Patterson Hurricane":

On the Nitti roadster, I would think @David Zivot could shed some light on it.

@50Fraud not off base at all on the Brown Bomber. I have a whole series of pics in my history books, and that version with the 34 fenders is the best. It was used to try out select styling trends for future models. Some confuse the later Darrin "Coupe Deville" with the Lucite top as the same car. Not...

This one's on the edge, but holy shit I'd do this if I could:
    20220123_141251.jpg
Maybe I get a pass cuz it was the Harrison Ford car in Graffiti...?

Hot rods, so damned many, I gotta think within our membership some were truly inspired by select notables, even if unwittingly. Someone already said "Moonglow" and I concur, although theres a pearl yellow version that's so close out there already. Great topic.

Just for you fans of the MacCauley speedster and for you @50Fraud .

1 of a kind mascot and his monogram on the radiator shell:

    "The Scalded Dog"

    Variations on a spectacular theme:

I'd heard that someone in the midwest went for it and began to construct a tribute. That was a dozen years ago and I've heard nothing since. The few teaser pics looked promising. Enjoy...

  22. Actually there are 2 clones of this well known version of it as well as Von Franko built a clone of Norms first in Black version of it starting with just the original Exhaust off Norms car. My hat's off to all of them.

  23. I'm usually not a fan of clones, but there's one exception I'd make.... the '64 Comet Super Cyclone.

I fell in love with this car the first time I saw it, but it never was anything more than a semi-functional show car and disappeared after it's show service. Rumor had it that Mercury built this to poke Plymouth and the dowdy-looking Valiant-based Barracuda that was introduced a few weeks after this was first shown.

  24. Always room for more Norms and Ivo "T"'s

  25. Ok guys. Im gonna say it.

The need closure. I’ve mentioned before about not being a fan of the Graffiti coupe. Great movie star. Not so much off screen.
But, there’s one more. I’m not a fan of the El Matador. (And Lil Coffin)

    my apologies.

I highly appreciate the work. But not the results.
