Holy engine setback! What steering setup are you planning on running?

Yeah, I’m running hood sides and didn’t want to cut them for the valve covers. I think it ended up about 5” back.

Good thing it’s a sedan, plenty of room to push the seat back!!

I’ll do a Vega box and cross steer. I’m sure it’ll get interesting getting around the headers.

  4. Just checking in on the progress. Super awesome and love that you went with a crazy dash. I did the same in my coupe as well. I love these types of builds as it reminds me of where I started on my coupe in about the same shape. Keep the updates coming.

Thanks, I hope my Tudor ends up half as nice as your coupe.

    Will do on the updates.

Wow. There has been a lot of metal fab work going on. It all looks very sturdy.

You damn near have that whole metal fab thing figured out.

    Fantastic work, as always.

Yes sir, they're Pro-Tracs. I wanted something tall but not too wide. I really love the way they look!

Haha, that's my buddy's garage. My shop is too small to have the body and frame apart. I had to take the body across town to his place for about a month, while I finished up the chassis.

This car really forced me to learn a lot of shit!! I know I should have passed but now that I'm to this point I'm glad I didn't.

    Thanks!

Ok guys, I'll give some explanation.....

The firewall is set back 5". I love the way a factory deuce firewall looks so I cut it out and shoved it back. I also wanted the cowl vent to work. If you look at the image you can see I built a duct to clear the vent.

The inner structure was completely built by me, including above the doors and around the quarter windows. I'm not running any interior and I wanted a raw somewhat factory look to the bracing.

The wheel wells are moved up 1-1/2". I wanted to get the car a little lower but didn't want any crazy mods. I think it's super subtle, probably most people won't even notice it.

The rockers were pretty straight forward. I just fit standard patch panels in. I did have to modify them to fit the subrails I made.

I'm trying a triangulated 4 link on this one. I figured it would be better for a car that is going to see a ton of street miles.

The rear frame rails are kicked up 3" for rearend clearance.

The body is 95% rust free and I'm working on the floors now.

Seats, pedals, and steering is up next.

Thanks for looking and for the positive comments!

  20. I just saw this tonight and I just read the whole thread. Amazing and what a save, one the best I've seen on the HAMB and probably the one with the most issues! The talent and perseverance you have shown is pretty impressive and I really respect what it takes to bring one back from the dead. Especially the man hours that you have to put into a project like this. I have had a few rough Tudor's over the years and I always let them go because I just didn't have the guts to do what they needed. They also had the rust, a bad chop and brazing. The first one even had a wood firewall like yours! I'm a bit embarrassed to show them, because they look easy compared to yours, but the pictures never really show how bad they can be until you are into them.

    That's quite the compliment, thanks!

You're absolutely right, you can't really tell from pictures how bad a body is. I learned that lesson on this one!!
