I don’t thing so. A blow up of the engine compartment shows a rod on the bottom of the carb linkage for a powerglide kick down and throttle pressure.

My good friend Dick ordered this Impala in 1962 with a 6 cylinder and 3-speed overdrive. He parked it in 1976. I pulled it out for a couple pictures, then put it right back. It had been covered with a tarpaulin and when I removed it, I was shocked at the lack of rust. It had been dealer undercoated, and it worked. Paint is original. When I opened the drivers door, that was the big shock. No mouse shit, no smell, not even any dirt or dust. Maybe, just maybe.... dicks 62a.jpg Dicks Impala.jpg washed.jpg

Great score! Full size Impala is on my list. The SS package is just icing on the cake.

Don't think so. Looks like a Powerglide trans stick at back passenger side of the 327. Awesome machine either way.

    It's all there, that's a bonus.
Check the area below rear door corners well, if it's soft at all on the outer skin, just plan on inner and outer rockers. Theres a few spots in the frames that collected crud and typically rusted.

You can use rectangular tube to replace inner rocker boxes, then hang a factory outer skin over it, stiffens the body up quite a bit. Depends if you're going resto or not. Thread on it, most of the pics are gone though

I plan on doing this on my 63, it's not an SS and is a parts car for my father's 63 SS 409 4 spd. Whatever is left I'll build it.

It's very possible to shine it up for one last date. The paint is thin and it will eventually come back if not kept waxed and indoors but...it will shine back up to a point.
This is something to consider as you gather the parts.
You could get the engine/brakes/structure taken care of, shine it up and drive it before you blow it apart.

Worked at a Chevy dealer in 63 for the summer. Got to ride in one just like this with Bill Muncy who drove unlimited hydroplanes. He was nuts, but he sure made that 327 do it's thing. It was a sold customers car. Ah, the "good ole days" ........

She’s an automatic… but she’s a cruiser so I don’t need to bang gears. Haha

Your brother has a perfect six-foe! I have a 64 4door that is my daily. Has hydros… a lot of fun at lights on the way home every day. Lol 832827A8-77AB-46E6-89D1-4EB04D268371.jpeg
