Damn, this post makes me feel old even though I'm not really! I though it was kinda "HOT RODS 101A" to know who Pete Eastwood is, or Jim Jacobs, or Pete Chapouris, Jim Ewing, all those guys. But I think Fab 32 was right, some of you guys weren't born when this whole thing restarted and grew into what it is today...
Pete and Jake pioneered the 4 bar setup for street use with tube axles. Even though it was used years earlier. They hooked up with all the major magazines, convinced the new up and coming streetrodders of the mid to late 1970's that all of their cars where doomed to damnation if you didn't buy their 4 bar setups, batwings, front shock mounts etc. to be used with both tube and I-beam axles. Just like today, the magazines advertized the latest new mousetrap. The readers bought. It was a great marketing ploy that made them tons of money for a 25+ year run I'm sure.
I remember the days of the Vintage Tin car club that P-Wood, Chapouris and a bunch of us guys were in. Peter was alway alittle crazy back then, and always had a good looking girl friend. He is a super talented builder, and wrecker. He damaged his 3 window avery weekend for a month, with the last time costing an front axle, fender and wheel. I still usually catch up with him at LARS every year. This year he had a cool T pick up for sale there. Yes, his motto was ride em and wreck em, the Peter Eastwood Schoo of Driving. Lots of fun.
Good to see this 6 year old thread resurrected! P-Wood's the coolest! As already stated, Pete's a very talented chassis builder ... and IMHO, one of Hot Rodding's Heroes! NOTE: All images are from the Dick Martin "The Pete Eastwood Story" article that appeared in the March '09 issue of

P Wood is the man. Easily approached and always cool. If you didn't realize who he was and how talented he is you might miss him. He gave me the thumbs up this year at the P.R.C. and I felt like the little kid Joe Green gave his jersey to in the Coke commercial. P'Woods always at Cacklefest and always cacklin' something cool and always smiling. One Hell of a guy Tim
pretty sure this is Pete's single seater that he built a few years back: the body, tank, number plate, and header were sold off: pretty sure that is what is represented here.
I taught him how to use a computer and he actually has one in his house. I think I created a monster though since t's primarily used for sniping on eBay. He says he "looks at the H.A.M.B. from time to time.

Greetings everyone, I'm fairly new to this site and have also just purchased the "Number 5" car referenced above. Can anyone tell me what engine is in it. I am awaiting delivery of the car or I would look for myself, the seller (Mr Smalls son had no idea. I've tried calling Mr Eastwood, but no response. Thanks Rod
I'm not sure how all this works on this HAMB, but I just "started a conversation" with Pete. Is there a separate "private" messaging service available? I don't see it. Rod
In an old StreetRodder magazine covering an El Mirage meet there is a photo taken on the starting line with my black GMC powered gas roadster and Pete’s Orange Blown Street Roadster in the mid 80’s I think. Not a big photo but coverage none the less.
No. Still can't post in the classifieds and the 10 post count was put on by the Admin to thwart some of the scammers.
