Projects What car do you regret getting rid of?

  1. Should just say all - as most were sold to fund another one. But selling my Mopar collection of OT's in the late 80's because I thought I might be getting married and my buds said I never would still hurts. Funny I did hang onto my RPU, Studie and my 1964 Val convertible. The one early hardtop Nova was my little 1964 SS with a 283 and powerglide which was the last time Beth and I had some fun in........

Fresh outta high school my best friend and I cornered the market in our small town of every 69 Camaro. Page, Arizona is on the border of Northern Arizona and Utah, and the town is a Government built town in the middle of nowhere! So after we had gathered up every Camaro in town we had two drivers and one parts car. My car had a bent front subframe, so I got that. He needed a 350 and a Muncie, so that got a home. The 12 bolt posi also went to my car. Did I mention that the “parts” car was a RS/SS L48 350 4 speed Hugger Orange with black vinyl top that only had a crunched right rear quarter panel that somehow got hooked on a telephone pole guy-wire?! Both body shops in town at the time said it was “totaled” and wasn’t worth fixing. It’s 1980 and we are both 18 years old, what do we know? About 3 months after all the cannibalizing of the car, I get a phone call from my buddy’s mom to be at her house the next day before she goes to work. The next morning she then tells the both of us that when she gets home from work that “That piece of SHIT better not be in her driveway!” So, under threat of death, we do the only thing possible. We borrow the Oxy/Acetylene torch set from the local NAPA store and then cut it into pieces small enough to fit in a garbage can! I seem to remember that other than the quarter panel damage, it was a low mile, perfect interior, ran like a top, worth 150k today, hot rod! Yup, because of me, those Camaros are worth just a bit more! And, yes, I do miss it, it ran great, and I could powershift it so well it sounded like it was an automatic!

This is another one that I let go. I was very young, just out of the Navy in 1973 and blew the transmission up racing another car. I had to have a way to go so I traded it for a 1950 Ford Panel truck complete with Shag carpet everywhere inside. My wife at the time said I had to get rid of it and like a good little boy I did. 20170120_221333.jpg

That Ventura is on the top five list of cars I wish I still had. That picture could have been my car. Bought it new in 1960. Same color. 389 tri power/4spd. Bought it on Wednesday and raced it Friday night at Colton. I might still have the trophy if it didn't get lost in the last move.

The day I turned 16 I passed my driver test and as promised my father gave me his ‘32 Ford Victoria. I drove the car to high school and to work until I saved enough money to buy a very used Ford Falcon. The Vicky went into storage with the plan to use it a basis for a street rod when I had enough money. As time went on I grew tired of the Falcon and looked for something better. That is when I found and bought my Cyclone (avitar), my parents decided to retire to Florida and my father started selling his collector cars. I knew that I really wanted the Cyclone and decided to give the Vicky back to my father. He sold the car immediately. That is the car I should have kept!
There is some good that came of the situation, I still own the Cyclone almost 54 years later and the Victoria is owned by a real enthusiast who cares for it impeccably.

I like it too. Mine was a white '69 340, 4-speed with Cragars. Stock, low 14's. After I rebuilt the 340 for a little more HP it was a high 12 second car with slicks. And I still drove it on the street. Yeah boy, do I miss that one.

The only ones I miss are my 66 C10, my 62 C10, and my 71 Super Bee. I've filled the void many times over, but will never replace them I do miss the 327 out of my Studebaker, and my 427 I had in my El Camino .

1940 Cadillac, 1940 Ford Pickup, 1964 Dodge Model 440 2 door hardtop, 1966 Dodge Charger, 1966 Nova, 1973 Nova. Four were hot-engined beasts, two were stockers.

I wouldn't mind if my '88 Turbo Coupe was still parked in my garage either. And the '69 Ranch Wagon. Jeez, I'd like to have all of them back. '64 Dynamic 88, '53 BelAir too.

Had a pretty built 302/AOD, 9" rear, dropped front axle and disc brakes all the way around.. traded it for my 54 f100 with a 223/4 speed truck, rebuilt the suspension in it and didn't want to store it at my brother's house, so I sold it. You can also check out my thread about selling my 53 customline and tracking it down and getting it back. It's here to stay now. I don't wanna have to track it back down again!

I bought the remains of a 23 T bucket built in the 60's around 2000. steel body, V8-60 axle early ford spindles and split bones in an unknown early chassis, had an 8" ford out back. it came with a 70's 302 that was not a part of the original build..

traded it for a 51 Chevy truck in a moment of stupid to a guy who I thought would build it but he parted it out.

asshole!!!! V8 60 axle ended up on Von Franco's Kookie T. body went to a HAMB guy who's name I forget, the rest is in the wind

Several I wish I still had. One would be my '40 Olds, a great highway car with a Pontiac 400 and T/H 400, many show trophies. In 1977, I thought with all the oil shortages and gas prices there would be no future for V8 powered cars. Probably not my best decision.
