I'm pleased to report that I got the oldest member of the fleet out of the garage and took it for a drive and a drink!!

It won it's first Best Engineered award at the Nats South in 1980 right after Mike Wiley, the owner and builder, got it on the road.
It has been around for a long time and I still get a thrill out of driving the car!
Just so special... not many are chopped 5" and SHORTENED 4"! That, coupled with the big block with a chromed tunnel ram; along with the big quick change that my pal, Bobby Built, and I added make it truly one of a kind. Somehow it got on the cover of Rod Action and Popular Hot Rodding at the same time! It had to be special to do that.
Mike had a heck of an eye! Tis perfect in my view.;):)
I still feel honored to be the current caretaker of Mike's car.:)

Not super technical but I fixed a transmission cooler problem I was having. I had originally mounted the cooler with the ports facing down and had a problem with trapped air. The fluid was just running thru the first one or two rows of the cooler and back to the transmission without much cooling. So I flipped the cooler around to put the ports on top, and bent up a set of hard lines that run around the side of the radiator and connect up to the original factory lines underneath. The trans temps are now much better and I even managed to get the hard lines bent correctly on the first try (which never happens for me).

Splitting the roof takes time. I'm using a small grinder with a 75x1mm cutting disc, and a.... I dont know what they are called in English , but in Sweden we call them Multimaster (multi purpose machine ??). Anyway I had a new blade from Bosch with Carbide that work on metal and spotwelds. 017.jpg

Body is finally back home after paint and about ready to be dropped onto the frame. I still need to finish the brakes on the 35 and get it off the hoist so I can do the header gasket on the Fairlane. 270119721_661215671920001_1676781046466682201_n.jpg

Finally got back in the garage for a while to continue in my firewall flip and me being me decided that I needed to then reverse the stamping so it was going in the original direction. I still have a ways to go and it’s not perfect yet but I’m moving forward finally. Went to the fortune teller and she said there’s a lot of high build primer in my future. 14051B56-44A9-4A47-8D29-350457A665B4.jpeg 14051B56-44A9-4A47-8D29-350457A665B4.jpeg A9898A5B-0F9E-4EC0-95F3-F8BDBFC2BC01.jpeg
