Projects 31 A coupe

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by v8coupe, Dec 13, 2021.

  1. I don't usually like chopped tops, but I gotta say I like the way you did it... radiused corners (the RIGHT way to fabricate), and not a straight-across cut... you did it right! I always grimace when I see square corners on cutouts, especially on frames. Good job!

What's the one thing you can do to an old car that instantly transforms it into a hot rod or custom?
    Cool, man.
    Now the spare tire...

V8 Coupe you are my hero. That absolutely rocks.

I've photo chopped a dozen Model A's (not just yours Pete) and suggested and cajoled and (other than the dude in Spain with the sedan to coupe) all I get is crickets. You are the first to post up, "Hey waddya think?" and then bam. How about a solid chop!
I'd bet you already had it in mind before you saw Pete's coupe with an altitude adjustment, but what the hell.

    Great stuff, keep at it.

  17. Very tidy indeed. I like the juxtaposition- intentional or not- with the pink plastic coupe on the patio in the first post. Nice work so far, drive on.

I stripped it down more and had a quick mock up of the engine and gearbox . I also started making cross members to mount the F1 pedals to and also carry the mount for the gearbox, i will also box the chassis.....when i get time. Merry Christmas everyone.

  21. Until I found the hamb, I thought wood was the most recyclable/transformable material. You guys know your way around a piece of metal to be sure.

    Happy new year.

Made a little progress. I made some templates and transfered to steel for the chassis boxing and welded them in...

Not meant to criticize anyone's methods so PLEASE accept this as sincere. Based off of one of the posted pictures the motor and transmission are rigged to your cherry picker with rope. Poor choice. And to my old eyes there isn't a safety clip on the cherry pickers hook? I'm new here but have worked steel and heavy equipment my entire life and I've witnessed some sad endings when improper rigging was used. When such things fail any damage to immanent objects is the least of anyone's worries.

Feel free to tell me to piss off but I just couldn't ignore what I saw and really want you to be safe so you can get your awesome project on the street to enjoy.
