I bought a pair of new wheels to sorta match my fronts. While I was at it, I got a different backspace so they're not hangin' out there as far as the Fenton Gyros I used to have.

I need some schooling please. I see on my last English composition that I got a C for using the words tyre and guard instead of tire and fender. I've moved my desk down to the front of the room, I've stopped passing notes, and I promise no more spitballs

I love the look of hung rear tires. Locally, they are a no-no as wheels must not extend beyond the bodywork. Whilst I can't do it on the street, there is more chance that I can do it at the track (my project car, a sedan version of my avatar, is likely to spend as much time on the street as the track). Hung tires will let me get another inch of so of tire width.

I worry though about suspension travel. Some of the photos in this thread show a large gap between the hung tire and the fender... probably enough to account for suspension travel without the tire scrubbing the guard. Other photos though show the hung tire really close to the fender. A dummy fitup of my project car shows that my hung tires will be close to the fender too.

So how is suspension travel managed in cars where the hung tire is really close to the fender?
Ignored, because there is not much suspension travel in a flat drag strip?
    Hard-mount rear suspension?

    School me please.

    Cheers,
    Harv

The proof in that statement is that there are so many old photos of the car.

Bump. Any guidance please? I can start a separate thread, but figured the info would sit better here.

    Cheers,
