I’ve got a 40 4dr. Really love your look. Hoping to work on my stance over the long Wisconsin winter. Would you mind sharing more on your suspension drop and tire size. It is spot on IMO. Thanks.

  14. Thank you sir. It has a Posies spring front and rear, and a dropped axle from Nostalgia Sid in Oklahoma. He heat drops original axles. It also has Pete and Jakes Tube shocks in the front and tube shocks in the rear.

The tires in the front are 600-16s. They are pretty big so I had to put an extra leaf in the front spring (from a spare spring I had laying around) to raise it back up so the tires would clear the fenders in turning. To be perfect I think it needs 550-16s and that leaf I put in taken out to drop it back down another 1/2". But these tires are good and new tires are expensive so I'm going to run it like this until these wear out. Tires in the rear are 750-16s.

Thanks for the info. I was planning on sending a spare axle off to Sid to get that out of the way. Was contemplating using original springs with reversed eye lower instead of going with new. I have too many original springs laying around.

  17. An original spring will work just fine with a reversed main leaf and a few leaves removed. I don't know off hand how many leaves need removing, might have to experiment or ask someone who has done it to get the stance dialed in.

I made room in my shop to park the 40 next to my project 48 convertible so I can fix a few things and give her an attitude adjustment over the winter. I don’t like undergoing 2 projects at once but I’m making an exception cause this 40 needs some love to make it more roadworthy for longer rides.

Put away at a heated storage place for the Winter. They always look better under fluorescent light. 29552970-ce13-4cb6-b46c-adf20015386d.JPG
