Oh baby, here we gooooo. Rears will probably be widened to tuck the pie crusts, thought about cutting them but don’t want to lose the edge bead detail. Running boards will either be made or modify stock to fit.

I know but my options are raise the rear which I don’t want to do, raise the fenders then they don’t line up on the bed as well, radius them a bit and lose the edge bead detail or widen them and tuck the pies. I’ve juggled with the last 2 in my head a lot back and forth. Maybe I won’t cut them until I test raising them tho? It just sits so good right now, raise the rear isn’t what I think I want

  5. I hear yah but if you look at legit ‘60s builds I would say you’d be hard pressed to find too many with “tucked” rears? Most are just raised up to clear and look mean as hell! Just my unsolicited opinion, haha! :)

    Sweet truck build!

When you change directions in a build after already acquiring parts it makes it difficult.
Personally, I like the rear tires hanging out and I see your Delema.

Well in my case I am glad you saved it from the crusher or worse becoming a Maytag washer. Keep up the good work.

    Quoted for truth!

But it's not impossible. Make changes that keep with your plan/vision, keep it simple, and don't be scared to test the look with a little more rake.

Take a look in this thread for some ideas, it's a fun bunch of pics:

Thanks all! Agree the direction did change but only slightly, fenders have always been on the brain. Channeled and fendered was always a direction this could go in the future, but that time is nowZ Not much of anything needs to be redone. I don’t have rear coilovers yet so that helps decide on stance without wasting any money. I do agree, after searching that thread @-Brent- , raising the rear and not cutting the fenders is the way to go. If I have to raise the front, I can always change the spring out. It’s a reverse eye, I could gain some height going with a different spring. I have another axle that would fit this current spring so I could just use it for the next build. These pictures look the part:

  10. I was going for 1960s as well; my tires stick out past the fenders

Man I hate that you posted that here! Haha that ‘pile’ is perfect and has been saved in my archives. I had planned the same paint scheme of red oxide with black fenders. But damn, now I feel like I’m straight copying you! Ughhh hahaha, love it man! Thanks for the inspiration

Really like your project. I'd leave the rear fenders stock width and let the tires hang out. That's 60's early 70's style.

 Firewall, grille, running board frames all mocked up. Rear was raised and fenders mounted. They are tight in the rear and may get slightly bobbed/radiused but they will not be widened! Always thought I’d chop it but not sure it needs it. Can always happen later I guess. Starting to look like something.

If you are any where near 6 foot I wouldnt chop it with a channel, NO room in the cab once you do that...

    Ask me how I know..

My whole life I was frustrated being 5’7”....now I love it. So you’re saying I can chop this 5”?! I have tons of headroom right now but I won’t chop it yet, after it gets on the road maybe. But I have 2 other cars to build after this so I just want to drive it and enjoy

On a different note, all the sheet metal is original but the grille and it’s killing me. I should’ve atleast bought a repro with the top filler hole and crank hole. It looks too street-roddy to me as it is now.

Yeah, that's the ticket! It seems there's little room for suspension travel as it is... but you'll figure it out. It looks good though! A couple inches off the top would be sweet... someday. That lil' truck has come a long way and the direction you're taking is spot on!

5" chop with long bed and fenders would ruin the proportions, JMO!

Agreed, I was joking about that. If it ever gets a haircut, which is TBD, it'll be 2-3" max.

I've been tossing around running a 471 blower rather than the 6x2 but they are spendy for what I want. Unless I can find one for under 3 I won't bite.

I will be listing these intakes shortly, an old school polished dual 4 & a tricked out tripower if blower plans fail! Also have a complete Hiborn Inj. unit!

Neat - I have an original Edelbrock X1 6x2 that I planned to run but the blower idea has been tempting. If you plan to sell those valve covers, send me a PM. I have a set of cal customs but those script chevrolet's with the breathers are neat looking
