Hurst Competition Plus 4 Speed ID # 990342M. Just picked this shifter up and would appreciate any help on its application. I have searched the number from the main body but to no avail. There are numbers on the three bottom levers. one is 7265, 7267,7268. There is a number on the bottom of the chrome shifter lever 7275. There is also another number on the main case 3138. Thank you.
Are there numbers on the shift plates? All of the shifters I found the shifter numbers start with 391XXX
There are numbers on the levers 7265 7267 and 7268. It also has a holder on the bracket and that looks like for a back up light or neutral safety switch? I will add some pictures soon

This may be a shifter supplied to OEM manufacture... That looks like a manufacture's type part number...Just my guess....
I think so too, though not sure what application, what stands out to me is the integral mount for (I assume) a backup light switch and the lever bushings look like dual flanged rubber which I recall seeing over the years.
I have the book Vintage Hurst Shifters a complete guide, it's anything but, but does seem to help on late 60's and down more for I.D.
handle is for a 1970 mustang should have 3/8 x 16 threads and a flat spot on the right side of the threads as seat for a locking setscrew in the hurst t handle to keep it from turning
Any Hurst shifter used in an OEM factory installed application won’t have the adjustable synchro stop bolts, as not seen in the photos. That way they might benefit two ways, the manufacturer payed them for the prestige of having a quality shifter and the hard-core racer would probably upgrade to the aftermarket Hurst.
