1951 GMC Panel Van Hello, In keeping with the Halloween Orange theme and the following November Fall Color theme, here is a perfectly good, custom, cruising panel truck. Inside would have plenty of space to carry all goods and necessary items to take on a nice long vacation during this pandemic "Trick or Treat" era or the standard “Over the River and Through The Woods” to the family dinner gathering. This GMC chrome grille comes right at you in your rear view mirror with some intimidation. A driver certainly could not miss the color pattern in the mirror. The chrome grille and Yellow flames with the Orange Base Color says “Here I am…” Jnaki This photo was taken in So Cal’s Corona Del Mar near the location of the old Merle’s Drive-In Restaurant. Back then, the development was not around and the whole horizon we see, today was just a huge acreage of empty fields with grass. It was kind of nice to experience the emptiness and today, 61 years later, a well planned business location with upscale home tracts surrounding the business district. The GMC panel truck had Montana license plates. Anyone know the story behind the For Sale situation? The next week my wife and I were in the same neighborhood and street, the GMC Panel Van was gone. So, it sold and/or it went back to Montana.
Of course I'm partial, as I fell in love with the grilles on '39 Chevys back in high school in the mid 60's! Just took me decades to finally buy one and build it. My '39 grille I pieced together using 3 damaged halves to get one straight, complete grille. So it's painted to save money.
Fitting this thread would arise from the dead I’m in the process of changing the color to black along with the wheels. Completed paint to follow in a few.
