My problem is I have to many projects.... I should have retired 10 years ago to be able to get them all done before I run out of retirement time....lol

Lou: I am just entering retirement as at almost 77 I have decided to quit building customer chassis. I thought I will need a project to keep me busy after I finish the last customer chassis. I now have most of the parts accumulated to build one last deuce roadster. As I look over the parts pile I am coming to the realization that I will probably never finish the project. Your project on the other hand looks finished to me. I fear I will never reach that point????????????

  7. Looks great! I am pretty sure my retirement already isn’t long enough to finish all of the projects I have ahead of me right now. And, I likely still have 20 or so years I need to work before I can even retire in the first place.

Lou, what’s left to do to make it a Driver? That’s what you’re going for, Right? If you have a Short list, invite some car buddies over and finish ‘em up. Once you have taken care of the Needs (and Driving), you could take care of the Wants in retirement! Great looking Forty!! Enjoy, Carp.

I think a lot of guys believe the more projects we have the longer we will live to finish them. Nice ride.

Lou, looks like your concerns were unfounded. Now get out and drive that baby! Great looking '40.

Mine was in "roller" status in 2015. I tore it apart that fall for some minor suspension changes I decided were necessary. In the interim, age and health issues got in the way; six months in Florida away from my shop every winter didn't help either. When I get back this spring (I'll be 80 then), most of the other stuff I have going on is close to done and I hope to have time to get it to "roller" again. I am hoping that will motivate me to get going. Unfortunately, in some of my more rational moments, I don't think that's gonna happen.

I'm coming up on 12 years being retired, had my plans for a build, have the shop, tools, some skills, and it turned out it was enough to keep up with what I had/have car wise, other wise, keeps me busy. The garage time was fun for years, now for me it's just work, all of my friends, some were builders say the same thing. Age, health problems seek up on you and in my case my priorities changed, still enjoy the hobby, cruising, going to GoodGuys Scottsdale this weekend so all is good. Nice 40, Enjoy !

No more big projects for me. I too started running south for the winter. Most of the work was getting done hibernating in the garage over the winter. Now it’s fishing, boating and bicycling. Just keeping them running and clean is my priority. Nice looking 40!

Retired in 2007 for the last time. Since then have done maybe 9-10 40's and a few others mixed in. Slowing down now a bit but hopefully not done yet.

I consider you and Marty Strode and quite a few others as being extremely talented at building these cars we enjoy. Been reading your posts with a great deal of interest for quite awhile now and I just don't believe that you don't have a few more projects in you. I'm older than you and I'd be willing to bet that I'll see at least one more of yours before I croak.;)

Go Lou Go!!!...leave the hood off, sometimes it's just a little more nasty looking and there's nothing wrong with that especially with the Monster wedged in there...

yeah, I ran my 40 for a year without a hood after I put the Caddy in it... but one thing I instantly realized after I put it back on is this... 40 Fords look soooo much better with the hood on 40.jpg
