What a great film! My grandmother took my then 16 year old dad and my aunt to this fair. I have many pictures and a century of progress coin from the event. I will post a picture of my coin, once I find it. Thanks for posting it!
So cool thanks. So many observations, I’ll leave it at: Awesome collection of mint model 40’s. People wore hats back then. Been said many times before but it is stunning how few (if any) obese folk there were back in the day. Everyone looks fit and slim. First guy Henry talks to after arriving is his chauffeur. Impressive machinery, early robotic welding! Most impressive exhibition all around.
Hi Ryan. Thanks for posting. My Dad told me about attending the 34 worlds fair.He said, very enjoyable and most interesting.Recognized a couple of pieces of music.First was"Come ride with me Lucille" in my merry Oldsmobile. The other was the ending was"Oh Colombia the gem of the Ocean". Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
I finally took the time to watch the entire video, and I was amazed how they suspended and hung 3 Vicky from one wire wheel, and seeing the twisted axle, I have seen a couple of them in the past, I wonder just how many they did that too? HRP
Mahalos, Ryan. What an insane amount of cool stuffs. The mini steel mill! On site aluminum casting! White outfits!
That was amazing! Thanks Ryan. I can't imagine how futuristic that must've seemed to the average depression era American.
Amazed at all the machinery set up for this fair. Like a factory of machinery and then some. Must have been a sensory overload.
The 1934 Worlds Fair was an amazing event indeed ! The incredible artwork of Diego Rivera from 1933, the murals at the Detroit Institute of Arts, really reflect the industrial progress of that time period ! This is just one of the 27 panels, that Rivera did, that depict the Ford Motor Company.
