Looks completely fixable to me. Just take your sawzall and cut away all that rusty metal and you should have a usable chair again! :D

  8. E254 should be May 25 0f '54. In '54 the axle spline might be 29. later pieces went to 31 like you might find in '64. I would pull an axle and count the splines.

YOU my friend have allot of repair and fabrication ahead of you, it's completely doable, been there.
Get it blasted and get it in metal prep protection, then get a couple of sheets of cold rolled 18 gauge, stock up on consumables and welding materials and enjoy the journey.
Congratulations on your new born !

Engine turns over so itll probably get run as is for now. Trans idk...lasalle would be ideal. Wasn't worth it before but may be worth it on this one, definitely want to run a standard. I have a 37 ford 3 speed and adapter for the olds but that just doesn't fit this build

Thank you! I have a line on a cowl that should solve a ton of issues up front, (thanks dave) also have an offer from scott to fix my rumble seat lid and do some trading on a drivers door. Beyond that i have floors, rockers, some trunk, roof fill, roof above the pass door and pretty much the entire bottom 3 inches of the car to fix. It will definitely be a journey! Loads of solid steel there though!

  15. If push comes to shove maybe a grille shell from a different make would work. My buddy, Sonny's old 32 plymouth with repro 32 ford parts up front sonnys32plymouth.jpg

Check out the proshaper threads by Wray on Youtube where he makes flexible shape patterns on the "good" side so that you can replicate it on the really bad side. Then remake the "good " side also.

If You made a tube/rod inner grill structure or parameter per say, the sheet metal outer might not be as intimidating.

I was thinking about that...or making a wood buck with the basic lip and curve profile to form patches

  26. For a while we had a 34 Dodge with the long wheelbase around the Omaha area. Black and silver. It was outrageous when seen in person. I wish I'd taken a photo of it. Had Western Bullets on it and it looked very cool.
