don't tell anybody but I did drive around the block,
it is quite quiet compared to the '27
tune is in order, driver side exhaust is running hotter than passenger side,
I will need to go through carburetors again,
I suspect throttle plates not closing 100% in secondaries..
    and maybe float levels..
    I don't know but it's a place to start.

Imagine how much you’d get done if you didn’t have that huge lawn to take care of lol

    Just awesome @Paul

@Tim in Suburbia every bit of real estate that distances yourself from neighbors is worth its weight in gold...

We live in an older part of town, neighbors on all sides, but it's a double lot with a small yard in front of the house and a little bigger secluded yard behind the shop.
It ain't much but we like it.

I just thought it was very car guy to have the entire back yard paved. I can dig it :)

    Thanks Dave.
Some of the updates posted here seem a bit minor to be included in a build thread.

I went through the carbs, they all looked fine, all passages clear, floats levels good, one float drop was about 1/8" high, fixed that. All gaskets correct.
Waiting for it to stop raining to test fire.
Got yom plates attached to title, so it's registered.
And scotch brighted heat blueing off headers so I can better gauge exhaust heat when I do fire it up.

I think that showing the little things that need to get done is valid. I'm constantly amazed at what seems to be a nothing task actually taking more time than some of the more major parts of building a car, or anything else for that matter. Get me talking, and I can tell you about all of the things that I have worked on over the years where that has been the case.

So keep those little tasks as well as your major accomplishments coming!

Stripped the 100 year old paint off the turtle deck, paint was too far gone to save but the steel underneath is as clean and fresh as yesterday's.

Satin black to seal it and rub with grey scotch brite to take some of the shine out of it.

    Started wiring the dash yesterday.
I have plenty of proper gauge wire, all new left over from previous projects
    but color choices are limited.

Wow! Look at the spaghetti! I don't know about anyone else, but I go thru a couple of bundles of tywraps every time I wire something. Most of them end up on the floor cut off as I keep adding/changing/revising the harness. You should see my trailer, and it's not even complicated!

Tail lights I ordered came today,
Cheap reproduction Chevy style.. hopefully I can find some heavier bezels to fit because these are about as thin as tin foil..
    Oh well,
I put blue tape around where they might fit, scribbled a bunch and drilled some holes and stuck them in place.
Also mounted an NOS Hollywood tag light and YOM plate.
Location will do but it will all need a little fine tuning to make it done.

Liking that taillight treatment a lot. Looks natural.

Don't sweat the tailpipes, that's an easy fix.

Yeah I know, not a big deal.
Actually I'm doing ok on this build, only having to redo half of it so far, used to be everything would get redone at least once to get it where I could accept it.
I don't know if I'm getting better at getting it right the first time or if my standards are slipping.

  25. LOL, Paul I doubt seriously if your standards are slipping even a little bit. The one thing that I struggle with in my builds is finishing something only later realizing I need to change it. I have always maintained that it is just part and parcel of design and build. Moreover, in my particular case, it may be that I am impatient and often don't look forward as often as I should.
