Well i did it. I have always wanted a car from the 30s to build a period rod. Tonight i dropped 900 bucks and picked up whats left of a 33 plymouth coupe, car needs just about everything! Rumble seat car. Its going to have a 51 olds 303 in it when its done. Im undecided on the trans. I do currently have an adapter plate and 3 speed ford floor shift trans out of a 36 or 37 but i think im going to go another route 20211108_193426.jpg 20211108_193501.jpg Screenshot_20211107-215544_Facebook.jpg

Holy crap...my wallet would be on fire coming so fast outta my pocket at THAT price:D. Nice buy...certainly worth saving. Looks like it already has about a 2 or 3 inch chop.

If you decide to go with a fiberglass trunk lid, OR, would like that one fixed for free, let me know. I need one so bad, and I want a steel one, that if I could borrow it to make a copy, id fix yours for free as a thank you.

I dont think its chopped at all, they just look that way. Idk maybe im wrong..Drivers door is chopped but likely a pickup or sedan door. I love the look!

    I like it!
Appears to be a weld seam around the top. Like Jack I thought it’d been chopped as well.

  14. I am following this. Great price! Looking forward to your updates.

I saw that, one of my doors is clearly chopped the other looks factory. That seam is also extremely straight....it may have been. Chopped but at this point i do t think so

More pics from today it has spare tire notches on both front fenders, plus looks like it has the hole for the rear one so....3 spare tires? PREPARED! I do think im going to go fenderless or bobbed rears with motorcycle fronts 20211109_102633.jpg 20211109_102655.jpg

That's defenitly a Dodge front fender in your picture. I've a 33 Dodge couple with Plymouth glass front fenders. Build thread should still be on here. Plydo used to make glass parts for these coupes but went out of business some time ago. Going fenderless is probably necessary. You've got your work cut out for you. Good luck.

Fenderless or bobbed rears and motorcycle fronts has kind of always been the plan

Not absolutely sure, but I don't think it's chopped either - - -those early Mopars had that look from the factory. What caught my eye (such as it is in my late 70's) is the inside of the frame. Appears that the C-channel X member is semi boxing it - - - looks strong, as in plenty rugged enough for a 303 or 324 Olds and whatever tranny you wind up with. Boy, talk about saving some work! Great project - - and congrats on the little one!

Your car has not been chopped, '33-'34 Mopar coupe's were perfect from the factory, unlike the other brand !
