I am truly astonished by the love my car has received.. I am proud and humbled. I wanted to post here on the H.A.M.B. first because the H.A.M.B. for me is where this car really started.. I was learning metal work and Bobby and I started racing and I just kinda feel like I grew into the person I am today from these experiences I had around the H.A.M.B. and racing, people I’ve met along the way. I started my car many years ago whilst being active on the H.A.M.B. I was often quite and learning whatever I could. Well since those days my car had been progressing bit by bit. Ryan came to visit us at Old Crow once and said something that I’ll never forget, as he closely studied my handiwork he said, “fuck! You nailed those a pillars” at that time I barely knew him but I sure did look up to his opinions about alot of things. I still do. He’s a good friend. Anyways at that time his words were a inspiration to me…
Fast forward my car sat in the background along with my dreams of running it down the salt for about 10 years. We all know how long a project can take and forget about the costs. With the help and support of a handful of friends I had pretty much built this whole car in a years time and through out the build I knew it was a special car especially as it really started coming to life in the build stages. I built this car for me to race. It was never going to be the car it became. Had I tried to finish it way back when… I don’t know.. I think I needed to learn more and grow… it was fucking a hard build but I stuck with it and couldn’t be happier with the way it has been received… holy shit!! 3 magazine covers and actually it’s 4 because it was on the cover of Dan Stoners Autocult way back when. sorry for being long winded with this little story.
thank you to the H.A.M.B. and to all for the support over the years.

Like an acorn, a tree will grow. You should know that all your work is appreciated by many, many people on here and elsewhere and the accolades (mag covers) are the icing on the cake. Congratulations, Carp.

  19. You bet. The series you and Piero shot got me motivated to pull my salt project off the shelf as well!

  20. So happy for you Lucky! I think it is great that you started so long ago, took a pause and then nailed it. Most people seem to give up and sell a project. Who cares how long a car takes to build, better than saying "I wish I never sold.....".
RJ and HR!!! Not many people can say that. Much respect! Not for the covers but for realizing a dream.

Thank You Kev, yeah someone else mentioned about the TRJ and HR covers. When I first found out I was wondering if that had been done before. I am definitely not a magazine buff but maybe someone knows??

Lucky I'll echo what the others above have said and add it was awesome to be able to follow along on the build in that youtube series, especially from afar. Thanks to you and your crew for making that happen, Im sure it was inspirational to many.

    So whats next????? :)

Thank you for watching Stormin Bonneville! Yeah I’m just trying to work out some motor issues with the car and a few other things so I can go racing again. Thought I was going to get to the last El Mirage next week but still waiting on my copper head gaskets. It’s not looking good.. hah. In the meantime I am just making parts and shipping a lot of my race scoops..

I have allways ranked Chrisman brothers coupe as one of the best looking Bonneville racer of all time.
You take the best of that design and add your own touches to it.
And it look just as good. Thats really something. You really deserve all the covers it got.

Thank You! I don’t think a lot of folks see the differences. I think they just think I cloned the Chrisman coupe. They are very different. In fact, even I was surprised when I photoshopped the two cars side profiles with each other.
    Thank you again!
