Event Coverage Cherokee Rod Run 2021

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Oct 17, 2021.

  1. Brenda and I just arrived back home after a very enjoyable weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains, we took in the Cherokee Rod Run at the Cherokee Indian Reservation and a visit to the Wheels thru Time Motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley,North Carolina.

The weather could not have been any better and there was a cruise in in Cherokee on Thursday evening, lots of cool cars but the highlight is 4 huge Elk came strolling down the main street like they owned the place, we were told this happens most every day and is very common.

The show had a mix of all kinds of cars, there was some hamb friendly and some very nice cars but the wheels made them out of the question to post here. HRP

There were a lot of 40 coupes.

Thank you for sharing! Always like those ‘64 Fairlane sport coupes.
Also looked like a good day for red Chevys.

I don't know how I missed that. We are between Maggie Valley and Cherokee for a long weekend. Went to Wheels Through Time yesterday but heading home tomorrow.

  12. Not much even thought Charles told me they offered free swap meet spaces, they had a free friday night dinner for all the participants and gave away a lot of door prizes & trophies, and they gave away a lot of envelopes with cash inside, some had 100, 200,300,400,500 & several had 1,000 inside, my pal Mike won 500 bucks.

Charles say's the club doesn't keep any of the money from all the registrations except enough to pay expenses, I didn't keep count but I would guess in all the envelops there must have been 10 grand or more. HRP

    Awesome, Danny.
I was hoping you guys would get some nice weather.
We have deer in the kitchen.
But elk at a car show?
    That's just crazy. :D
    Seriously, quite the image.
I wonder which cars they liked best.

Boy elk: "I like the red coupe!"
Mother elk: "Dear, what kind of car is that?"
Father elk: "Why, that's a 1953 Ford Ranch Wagon... the same exact kind of car my uncle had an encounter with."
    Mother elk: "I thought so."

  17. Charles Bryson, Cherokee Rodders president, said he was enthused with the turn-out for the organization’s 22nd annual event. “This year we were able to do free admission which is something that we hope to keep on doing with our sponsorship's. We take any and all sponsorship's and donations.”

He added, “As a car club, we are not a for-profit business by any means. None of us get paid. We’re all volunteers.”

Bryson noted that all of the proceeds from the event, which come in the form of entry fees for people showing their vehicles, either go into future events, are given back to participants in the form of prizes, or are given to charitable organizations. The entry fee is $35 for participants and has remained the same since the event’s inception. “We’ve always tried to keep that consistent, and we always give everything away. This weekend, we’re probably a little over $10,000 in giveaways and most of it is cash.”

Charles is the man that bought my '32 hiboy several years ago. HRP

Is this the same event that was in early November a couple years ago?
