I drove the roadster up to Lebanon Raceway in New York for the Dover reunion. It did not disappoint. Perfect weather for a 2 hour drive up in the roadster. The 2hours coming home was even better with just a T-shirt on. Oh I had pants on also. Watched the Drags for a while "they were going all day" Then checked out the hundreds of cars, the swap meet and the pits. Great Day! Here are some photos! Man I remember this pickup from Dover back in the day. Seen it run many times. Sorry to hear original owner passed away recently.
Thanks CT great pictures, I don't know how I missed that 63 Pontiac Catalina 2dr. sed. I usually spot that stuff easily. One thing I think I noticed was a lot of full size Fords like Galaxies and similar models 62 through 65 I'm not really up on the different years but there where more than I've seen at a hot rod show, mostly all were nice. Pat
This 63 looks like the ones we used to get into our trade school. Former State Police cruisers sold at auction by the state when they hit about 80,000 and a valve job by our school thrown into the deal if the new owner wanted one done. Man I did dozens of them most had carbon build up on the valve stem like 1/4 inch thick from sitting and idling a lot of the time.
Thanks for sharing @ct1932ford...what a day...hope the back got better rumbling back for 2 hours the other way... Quite the show...didn't VA Hamb fix up that vintage drag A Pickup?
No Stogy it's a different car although they look very similar. I spoke with VA Hamb and sent him a picture of Charlie Boucher's "Bad News" LB if I'm not mistaken the street rod "Blown hearse" is owned by the original owner of the "Blown hearse" race car. The race car is being redone by Colman and son but they race their Austin sedan with the NETO group and haven't finished it yet. Pat
Thanks for all the pics. A bunch of history there. I used to run the oval track on Sat night and attend the drags on Sunday. I remember Bobby Moore in a '62 409, Ralph Ridgeway in a '55 Chevy and others running there.
