What is the E/CA class designation?
I've never seen a six cylinder funny car style altered.
Although, I did entertain thoughts of building one just for kix once.

 

If I remember correctly that is in Canada at a non NHRA track.

Anyone know what size those rear tires are and brand?

 

They look like M&H Racemaster's. Maybe 12.00 X 16. Atleast that's what I think the sidewall says, kinda hard to make it out.

 

Yep James those M&h 12.00x16 I have a pair of them in my stash they are not that good though I wish they weren’t so dry rotted because they have the correct look

since the ground is pavement i would say drags. i don't think anybody ever paved the sand at the dry lakes.

I didn't realize from the picture that the surface was paved. Additionally, weren't parts of Muroc (aka Edwards AFB) also paved?

i live about 3 miles from edwards air force base and have never been on it. you may be right.

 

Muroc, don't think so, (any paving). A bit southwest of Edwards proper. Doesn't mean that there is none, just not much anywhere.
Edwards, yes, many locations. Probably more now than back in 1950.

Years back a "nostalgia" race was held at Muroc Dry Lake very near where the original races were held. Nothin but dirt for...miles.
I've got "film" pictures somewhere.

Mike, I was there. Drove down from Portland Oregon with a bunch of guys. That "nostalgia" race was one of the best.

 

I have often wonder what happened after this photo was taken? Recovered, ground loop, flipped?
