History 32 Chevy circle track time capsule

Friend of mine just bought this.
Thought some of you would dig it.

 

Wow! Rough as a corn cob, but brimming with personality! What are his plans?

 

A little bit Ford, a little bit Chevy, and a whole lot of fun....I dig it!

My ribs hurt looking at that seat! And the jerry can fuel tank... I can't say much my first car had a beer keg.

Only thing it needs is a GMC 270 I-6.

 

Badass, all business, killer look. In the early 60s, I used to ride my bicycle through the junkyard near my house, looking at so many cars that looked just like that, dreaming about what it'd be like to actually drive them. I'd sit and stare at them, imagining what had happened to them. This was before I'd even been to a dirt track, much less watched a race, but I knew this was some serious shit I was drooling over.

 

One fine POS I wish was mine. I would clean up to be as close to what it looked like racing. I could picture a dirty white 2” diamond t&r seat cover. I’d go along with 270
GMC also. Have fun I’m sure a dirt track will let put on a few hot laps between their heats and main events… fans would love it..

 

He'll get his money back selling those front wheels.........

Typical Saturday night Modified. I've seen worse win features. Back in those days, shine didn't pay you a dime. Alot of those repairs look like between heats pit repairs. Safety took a back seat to the pay window.

And all the young guys here say you can't weld steering parts!
Can you imagine going over 100 mph, sideways, on a rough dirt track with that!
It was done every weekend somewhere in America!

Not that it really matters but the body shell at least Looks to be a 3l, a ton of welding rod on this one & even looks as if a brake line has been soldered or welded. It is what it is as it once was !

 

I have always said hot rodding started on the dirt. Dry lakes were few and far between, but there was a dirt circle in every county in the USA. I love em.

 

That headrest is badass!

 

I’d imagine that was a modification for a rule change.

That baby is rough no doubt an outlaw car. (Outlaw non NASCAR sanctioned track or car.)

There are parts that don't look bad nerf bars roll bars ect... I'd say it was a car that kept getting handed down and cobbed up a little more each time.

I noticed that.
And how little of it was used.

 

Square tube roll cages were common place at one point. I would rather see a well build square roll cage then a poorly build cage out of D.O.M.

Late 50's early 60's Devil's Bowl TX Super Mod


This modern clone of an early 60's Lou Lazzaro N.A.S.C.A.R Sportsman, it has a square tube roll cage built like the original car.


Bruce Dostal's Falcon which used square tube in the cage the car got air borne (above the flagstand) and flipped hard five times.
Bruce walked away un-hurt.

I worked a little square tube in my vintage oval track race car build.

 

Yep. I seen a lot of square.
I noticed this particular 07 doesn’t have much of a cage.
I’m curious of what the rules were for some of the smaller tracks were.

 

I did notice the front axle
Appears to be set back a tad on the left side.
