Took the '29 CCPU to the Speedster Reunion and it crapped out on the first tour day. Got it home and started working on it and made some changes here and there. The wiring was marginal going in and I cut through the loom with a die grinder when I removed the throttle/advance rods. I put it in the storage garage today with boxes full of parts and it may be a future barn find! At 80 with a couple European sports cars and the Zipper roadster, I see no need to rebuild the CCPU at this time.

I didn't take any pictures of the day, but it is the second day of spring here day, so I took the coupe out in order to take the dog to the vet's to get some teeth extracted - it was his first time in the car - he seemed to like it.

    Not much to say,
Had the T out and one cylinder decided to not play well and another followed it. It was the timer and a coil after a trailer ride back home.
Installed a new 'I-Timer' and a different rebuilt coil. The bugs no longer crash into the back side of the windshield.

I have some GM Rods that were apparently used in some of the early inserted Bearing motors. They are marked 499637 GM (Diamond Symbol) 17. Far as I can tell they were from late 30’s 6 Cylinder. I would consider them cores at best.

If they were used back then, I’m sure there are much better options now a days.

think there’s any value in them or should I scrap.

@Airborne34 if you decide to get rid of them I'd be interested in them.

  20. After shock testing with the Coupe to Pendine and back including some salt bath and wet sand blasting on the beach I transferred them to the Tourer for a trip to GOW at Prescott hillclimb last weekend. Working really well. Shim valves inside and pressure filled with oil. Should be available soon from RKE Engineering in the UK.

Just another Friday night, got tossed out of the A club meeting for talking during the gospel and general douchebaggery ...some nerve, all I asked is if anyone wants to race for pinks..my idea of a car club is a bunch of dudes talking shit, drinking beer and lying about something.. these dudes wear matching polo shirts and act like they are in church.. the treasurer said they had 41 k in the bank..They didnt like it when I yelled "kick some down, Ill get the keg and start the barbecue"...

    Yes,
I gave up on the local Model A club years ago. They would collect dues and interest on the money in the treasury.
Suggest that funds should be spent to the benefit of the club members...there was great pride in the funds hoarded in the coffers and it was intended it remain that way!
Organized as a 'not for profit' Corporation, they were audited and informed that if they didn't spend some money, they would be viewed differently, status revoked and taxed.

    Hey Retson...
Just curious, who made your header and are you using a Burns single or dual?

  28. Ran last month at the 2021 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Did what it took near 60 years (on and off) going thru the "Corkscrew"! I spun! I caught it though; and didn't hit the wall! Thanks to being a life long skier; as the rear went around to the right heading the car to the inside wall; I briefly hit the brakes! I then cranked the wheel to the right and rolled on power! The car whipped around 180 degrees. That set the downhill wheels like those of ski' edges) ; and I slid down to a stop a couple of feet from the downhill wall. According to the photog, Adam Hosey who took the below photo below; the crowd went wild!
