A friend gave me this set in the late 90's. He said they came from Grandpa's attic. Pretty sure the box was Cal Custom. I liked these but put the SS rings back on.

Well I guess I should think about changing the title of my thread from mild custom to Full Custom… after the wheel wells were done Mark(Chopolds) jumped on the headlights.. I shoulda taken some pictures today but I’ve been scrapping the coating off the trunk floor, but I do have a couple from yesterday. Also today I had a pretty cool visitor swing by Customs by Flash while we were working on my coupe. James, the previous owner I bought the car from 4 years ago came by to check out the progress. James is well into his 70s and showed up one a motorcycle.. this guy is one of those hardcore car and motorcycle guys. Still reads his hot road mags and used to do motorcycle enduro races back in the 60s and 70s, and still riding today! Anyway Got the thumbs up from James.. said everything we have done was what he would have wanted to do when he had it.. I can tell he had a bit of regret but that was over fast as he looked over the work. He can’t wait until it is done. I just thought that was so cool. So here’s some pics of what has been going on ..

I am waiting to see the finished product. So far what I am seeing, while skillfully done, is not in keeping with the overall styling theme of the "shoebox" Ford.

The styling "theme" is a mid to late 50's CUSTOM. All mods should be traditionally inspired (if not exactly copying the past), aesthetically pleasing, and visually flowing. That's what a custom should be.
    NOT stock.

Not quite sure if I’m following you on the styling thing… pretty much everything we have had done to my car has been popular custom modifications found on shoebox fords in the 50s. Granted the paint isn’t as traditional, but the styling of the car is. To be honest many of the modifications done are because I was heavily influenced by Jr Conway’s 50 coupe.. so most of the stuff he has done to his are done to mine.. and I don’t think you could point out a better example of a 50s style built shoebox Ford then his..

    Thanks!
From time to time I‘m thinking about having a Color like this on the roof with the Body in black. But first I have to start the project at all.

  24. I know we all have opinions and comments like this is what's driven me away from coming on here like I used to. Seems no matter the context there's always something negative thrown out. If nosed, decked, frenched and a peek on the hood isn't correct for Mild Custom I've been wrong all my 70+ years. Keep up the good work Tony.

Are you going to use more colors than mayan gold and candy red? It‘s really a wild mix.
