Did a little pulling with my coe and little homemade trailer.. It pulled great, backs easy. The coe don't overheat or loses power...im so happy with the set up. The diamond t is being delivered to Illinois to help someones restoration a bit easier.. Another local hotrodder bailed me out today using his forklift..hes a life saver..thanks Scott. I apologize for the blurry pics..I messed up my phone. Same trailer with out the sides and tailgate..I made them removable
Cooler is in the radiator. Lost reverse,1st,2nd,3rd,and OD. It took me all the way home around 53mph.. Transmission is hummed. I will buy a new Transmission and have it installed...I didn't have time to check anything up. I showered and hit the road to come to school. Im learning tig.
Gonna have to update this thread. I grenaded the trans driving back from Boneville, this little model A passed me so I decided to follow him and pass his ass,I went 80mph for a while when I felt something broke,,,pulled over and the trans was leaking and fluud was puking out...I was 400 miles from home,in the middle of nowhere. I decided to keep going home. I stopped a couple of times to check the fluid level and to buy a couple of quarts. I noticed how the trans was getting worse every time I stopped...eventually I noticed I lost reverse and had to park it in a way that I could get out of a parking with out having to use reverse.. Then I noticed how hard it was to gain speed.. engine was reving at 3k and I was holding traffic... Once I gained speed, I didn't want to stop in case it wanted to quit completely. I dont have a working fuel gauge so I was doing the math with how much fuel I had... Well,,I ran out of gas 5 miles from the next gas station.. I rolled to the side of the and there was a guy on his cellphone so I waited for him to finish his phone call...I asked him to give me a lift and he did! Great guy, I tried to give him some cash but wouldn't take it.. It was hard to leave my baby 5 miles back with all my tools and a cooler full of beer.. It was really hard to gain speed to finish the last stretch home 120 miles...it was really hot! 115° and the inside of the cab being around 120°. I drove around 55mph the last hour then I pushed it to 65mph the last miles...I was nervous on the last 4 traffic lights away from home but it got me there at last... I parked it ,took a shower and went to school 17 miles away on my daily...what an adventure it was...it was great being at the Salt meeting people and a couple hambers... Everyone on the road waved and smiled.. I took a break and eventually found a guy on FB marketplace that had a good trans for 100.00 but turned out to be bad...found another guy to rebuild it for a 1000 and it's been running strong since... I've been working on several projects at once and driving the coe on the weekends.. Weather has been nice so I'm trying to finish the 55 vannete that has been swapped.. I have 2 trucks in the garage and the 3 vans and coe in the backyard...hoping to have a 3rd okd car on the road before the end of the year.
Thanks for the update, Seth. Sorry to hear about the troubles returning from the salt. Glad you and the truck both made it home without having to deal with anything else . Really enjoyed the pictures.... and the tig samples look great!!
Yeah man, that happened a year ago,the truck only sat for a month and I got it running after...its been running great since
^^^I like the "What is that behind us?" answer on your grille for the guy in front of you holding up traffic. Great to see you and the truck at Bonneville 2021. Bob
Lost my homemade battery cover so I had to make another one....I also changed the Vanettes grille to match the COE..
Bad news. Going to a local show, felt like I lost 4th gear. After the show,it wouldn't fo into 4th,then i felt drag,,then showed down till I only had 1st.. Back to the 700r4 asshole shuffle.
I'm new here so I read the whole thread at once. From DV to LV to CA. Really glad you kept this truck and keep working until you find a solution. You've got me thinking I need to forget my frustration with a couple of my projects and start working away at them until I find what's broken. I'm really glad you stuck with it. Several COEs up here but never seen a COE pickup. Never knew a tall cab would look so cool with a pickup bed. You've done a great job on it. I look forward to hearing and seeing what you do next. Good luck with the tranny fix and keep posting on your other projects - they're cool too.
Thanks for the post... I'm in LV now, been for a while... Idk how long more...I'm getting tired of the heat... I found some photos a couple took of the COE In boneville 2021.. Camera makes it look way better than it really is. .. I also flat towed it to Ventura Nationals a couple of weekends ago. . unfortunately I didn't take as many pictures but found some of the coe and I also did the reliability run
This thing still running great... Here a little video someone local made this morning https://www.youtube.com/live/_jN6XoLVs3Y?si=cHB3mfw3JB76_5OR
