In the 50's my Mother, Sister and I took the cruise on the clipper every summer as a family outing, a great memory with my Mom, Thanks for waking that memory up this AM.
Hooker Hood after the races one night with his car on the trailer. Hooker was a living legend in the mid south and was really a celebrity in the Memphis area. He was a good friend with Elvis and we would be in a pizza place and the waitresses and others would come up and ask him, "Are you Hooker Hood" and he would smile and say All right, All right, All right. per Bobby Marshall.
Nothing like something to think about before you push off! And I love the way the drivers wore a dress shirt and neck tie when they raced back then.
Eddie Curry was the man that painted a lot of the Florida Sprint Cars, made this board. Of the Man, Jan Opperman, one of the best. I did get to see him race, Wow was my first impression, met spoke with, a very nice man.
