Saw them Sunday night in Corbin, Kentucky. Billy told the crowd that Dusty went to Texas to take care of his hip, and their longtime guitar tech filled in for him that night. They cancelled a show a week ago in Indiana, but their tech guy apparently played bass with them since. Billy told the crowd that Dusty said "The show must go on".
This really sucks. I was concerned about his absence.

Stunned and without words other than there cannot be a replacement for Dusty.
    Rock on big guy!

  8. A real bummer and I fear we will never see another ZZ Top show again. As a kid in the 80's growing up this was one of the bands and cars that will forever be an inspiration.

  10. They are still on the bill for The Chip during Sturgis in a few days. Probably their largest concentrated fanbase they play for annually. I hope it all goes smooth

Summer 1984, after we graduated from high school: I was cruising around with my friend Mark, who had popped Eliminator into my tape deck. While we were going down Main Street, he spotted a cute blonde girl driving, and as we pulled up beside her so he could get her attention, the next song that came up was "If I Could Only Flag Her Down"...which we eventually did. They eventually got married, too! RIP Dusty, thanks for the memories!

How strange. I was just sitting here figuring out how to play “Jesus just left Chicago” and looking up chords and lyrics on the internet when I came back to the HAMB and found this. I’ve had that song stuck in my head for two days. Sad to hear that one of the legends of rock and roll is gone. RIP Dusty.

So sorry to hear this. I believe ZZ Too was the last 70's band with the same members forever. Every other band i can think of changed some personnel over time.

My little tribute. I missed seeing them several times for various reasons over the years; was (yet again) supposed to see them in Nov.; I think I'll pass.

  25. Sorry to hear. Haven't touched it in decades but I can still taste Jack Daniel's when I hear The Grange.

I saw a statement from Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard, they said thank you for being the bottom to the Top.
