    Very interesting...
Someone had the forethought to put some protection around the quick change gears to protect the drivers legs.
Wonder how many came apart in the back ?

I remember a few gas coupes and sedans with them in my neighborhood.
Back in the ‘60’s the place to source them was the local all night laundromat ;)

  7. A guy use to stop by the house when I was a Kid, he had a Thames Panel with a small block in it. It was pretty fast. He used to go by the house and get on it. One day he goes by the house and really nails it, as the car goes by it starts going to the left and goes up onto the neighbors lawn and stops. Doesn't hit anything. He climbs out the back cussing. Seems the plastic seat broke and sent him to back of the car. Pretty exciting.

We used to use them on our dune buggies, they were called "scoop chairs".

The Ron Bizio truck had a pair of the equivalent in fiberglass.

  10. Pretty standard equipment in gas coupes during the '60's, especially nice with Tony Nancy upholstery and his sea horse logo stitched in. Good old days.
