By hand or machine? Either way it looks like time well spent!

Clay bar, machine compounds, hand wax (hand buffed around the pinstripes)

12 hours because I clay bared it first, then 3 steps of compounds and had wax.

Is that the old style Lacquer with the lead in it. That paint looked like deep water. It was so beautiful.

Amazing how the original paint looks so good after that many years, it’s obviously been well cared for.

this shows the difference. The door handle is after the first compound. I didn't want it done to just be ok I wanted to do it right and work out almost 60 years of use.

Original paint was Ford diamond lustre enamel, new for 62.

Time well spent man! I got tired of an old Ford I had long ago and sold it to a friend's brother. I couldn't believe it when I saw it again. I thought it was dark purple. Turned out raven black that would knock your eyes out. Found out the hard way what oxidation does down here in the jungle country. :(

  20. Looks great! Nothing like polishing up old paint. I did the same with my 56 a while back. I didn’t realize just how bad mine had dyed back.

I forgot that Ford used Enamel back then. It must of been repainted at some point.

It may have been but from looking at the chips / deep scratches its one layer over primer so if it was it would have been a full reshoot. Based on the appraisal paperwork I got with the car they believed the finish to be original.

In our wise drunken name picking it is the one that stuck. Also yes, yes it is (wife threw it in as an idea, it just seemed right)
