Features POLL: Canted quad headlights

Oh sure, give Anthony a "like"...fine, you like him better than me...great, that just further fueled my inferiority complex. I guess it's back to my therapist tomorrow.

It looks like that car should've had a two-piece windshield, originally. Was a one-piece put in and the widow's peak removed?

Interestingly, most of the ones you've posted have un-canted or barely canted headlights.

 

I think that some people added quad headlights as they were the latest fad. Some look good, some look hideous. Done properly they add to the car. Done poorly the results speak for themselves.

 

That red 40 pictured above is a great example of why so many car guys cringe when they hear "Custom". That must have been from the era of getting points based on how many mods and not necessarily how tasteful the mods are. That thing is uglier than a bucket of assholes, completely ruined a 40 Ford

Only thing uglier than canted quad headlights are square headlights in old hotrods. Just never liked this custom touch myself.

 

Did somebody mention they wanted to see square headlights ?

 

Kind of a pointless thread. Some people don't like canted quads, some people don't like 58 Chevys, some people don't like chocolate. As my old team leader used to say "Opinions are like rectums. Everyone has one and they all stink."

 

Always thought they were cool on customs.

 

I'd be curious to know what the vote would look like if only guys who owned or wanted a custom voted...

 

Some cars, yes, some cars no. A custom has to earn this kinda trickery.

those late 50s early 60s custom roadsters with the quads rule.
The quads on the mercs are a no for me.
But it’s just metal. I’d still buy one.

 

Just because you can "cant" doesn't mean you should as you can easily ruin "the look".

Maybe they're not custom haters, but they do hate some of the things on customs like canted quad headlights. I'm figuring the OP wasn't planning on a 2:1 against. If you only polled "Absolute customs lovers" it would be a small poll. And, if you only poll people who agree with you, it's not really a poll at all.

 

I'm thinking there are some pretty cool stock cars. The 1931 Model A, 1965 Mustang, 1963 Olds Jetfire, 1940 Ford deluxe. There are some real ugly stock-styled cars, too. Same with customs-some nice one and some real ugly ones. Like fat people in stretch pants-just because you can, doesn't mean you should and beauty may be in the eye of the beholder. Best not to generalize.

 

That front end looks similar to my wife's vacuum cleaner.

when I look at that I see, a cool wall ornament and a neat car I just need to find a nose for.

 

Maybe a nose and a top. And, if that's the front, what's he done to the rear?
