Bought This 1939 Chevrolet Pickup Yesterday. Beautiful Rust Free Cab and bed. Not sure what to do with it. Also looked at a Sunbeam Alpine GT sitting in a old garage. For some reason My pictures wont load. Sorry

  3. No one wants to see a sunbeam anyway.....

  4. I just Googled "Sunbeam Alpine GT" and ... although I would love a Tiger, the Alpine GT (if it's the fastback model like the one that came up in my Google search) is quite ahhhh ... cosmetically challenged

A 36in chop would fix it. And, usually by now someone has said it, pics or it didn't happen.

Myself, I’d pawn the left one for a tiger.

  13. Chrysler had bought Sunbeam by then - so you know where it got that look. Have a dealer brochure from Chrysler pushing the Tiger....not soon after it was dropped from the line up in favor of the GT.

I'd like to see pictures of the pickup, don't need any of the Sunbeam though! :D

Yeah, I'd say that resemblance is more than just a coincidence.

    That's uncanny... Wrong!
From a Tiger fan, an a young lad riding in the back"seat" area of a 64 Alpine as a kid...

So Chrysler buys Sunbeam and then drops the Ford engined Tiger, correct?

Actually Sunbeam was sold through Chrysler dealerships, if I remember correctly my dad's Sunbeam had the Chrysler star on lower fender...

So now the pictures loaded. The sunbeam has been sitting in the garage we think since 1978. I am not familier at all with Sunbeams at all. But the price is right! The pickup also has been sitting for years but has a Great Cab and body. The man who owned these vehicles passed away several years ago collected many vehicles and had a building full of about 25 cars which I have tried to buy for years. The one I really wanted was a 1955 Chevy convertable but someone beet me to it. The son took me to the building on Monday to look at the ones left which included Packards, Cadillacs, Lincolns, Studebakers, Nash, Buicks, Chevrolets and a 1931 White Yellowstone Park Bus. Not sure what I'am going to do with the 39 Chevy truck Yet.

If my memory is correct, the Sunbeam Alpine is a Tiger without the V8 installation and other intervention by Carrol Shelby. In other words, the car the Tiger was made from.

  23. Looks like a pretty solid pickup! Congrats!
And, the Sunbeam would make someone a cool ride as well.

  24. V8 tiger was snarkey....kinda like putting a buncha power on a radio flyer wagon.

  25. That little Sunbeam coupe is a lot better looking than the "fast back" abortion...

The Sunbeam Alpine GT I think with a wash job and buff would clean up really well.

  28. When you said Sunbeam, the Alpine GT is what I thought of and not the one posted above that is a mess. I remember seeing one just like it probably 40 years ago in someone's garage in Texas.

  29. I'd be looking at the 31 White, those Yellowstone park busses are cool. Kind of a big one but cool none the less. Any pics of that??? Mitch

Pictures sure help this thread. Big difference between a '63 2-seater convert and an '69 4-seater fastback. Wrong Sunbeam gets Googled and everyone goes down the rabbit hole.
