Hot Rods Medic alert bracelet for old gearheads

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 38fordpickup, Jun 7, 2021.

  1. Doctor asked me if I want them to resuscitate me if I go dead. "Jumper cables?" I clarified. He said yes. Told him to remember two things. Six volt. Positive ground. I need a medic alert bracelet that says "6 volt Pos ground."

The doctor told me I'd live longer if I gave up cigars. I told him no, it would just seem longer.

I'd tattoo R.A.A.C. (Resuscitate At All Costs) on my chest. I figure I'm much too valuable to mankind to just fade away.;)

I was thinking the other day about having a QR code etched in the marble on my tombstone that takes people to the HAMB and my build threads. So my future family can see where all their money went. Yeah, that would please me.

DNR is a joke. I had full medical advance directive and my Dad's DNR filed with the hospital and they still asked him if he didn't want further medical help to save his life (his whole right face fractured from fall out door's, in full renal failure and tired of years of uncareable renal infections). That's the last time my Dad told off a doctor.

Me too. Had three done but mine were planned. That after burn is as bad as a shave burn.
    Hope your better off.

I refuse to have a DNR. I want to be a pain in the ass for as long as I can.

FYI, tattooing DNR on your body, even spelling it out wont stop the EMT, as that tattoo isn't a legally binding document. And, even if you have the DNR, the hospital will have to ask you.
Its a big deal when someone goes to the mechanics in dire function, we HAVE to do certain steps before determining that you're a parts car.

Seriously, I set off the metal detectors at the airport from the parking lot!

I expressed concern when my Mom went in for by pass surgery. She told me she was too stubborn to die. She was wrong.

No matter where you stand on this, To DNR or not, be sure to put your wishes in writing, provide a copy to your primary care provider, and a copy with a trusted loved one. Having it on file at your closest hospital would be a good idea also.

My brother is #2 after SWMBO, and he has already said he'll step on the hoses or pull the plug so I'm good. Seriously my advance directive is on file at the local hospital and with the cardiologists office.

So just remember, "When I die don't bury me, just hang my balls from a cherry tree!"

  26. Can't speak for a hospital, but when you dial that 911, i show up, not the hospital. And unless your family is standing there with the advance directive for me to see, you're getting the full treatment. And the tattoo thing was a smart ass joke. I work more cardiac arrest per month than most people have bowel movements. And I'm very proud to say i have 3 lifesaver awards. That's given when your cardiac arrest patient is resuscitated and walks out of the hospital back to paying taxes. I will say they're worthless at the pawn shop though. ;):D:p

I got a custom engraved one off ebay for about $15 that says DIABETES TYPE 2 and my doctor's name & number. One could have it done with a DNR and the phone number of your rep who has your paperwork

  29. Yup... been there got the 10" scar. I did have a HC proxy at the time, not through the hospital, and it did have a DNR on it. Glad my son was not aware of it when he signed the papers to save my ragged ass.
