Hot Rods The car I've been looking for my entire life! Well, 20+ years anyway. 1939 Deluxe Coupe

When I was in high school I fell in love with the 40 Ford pickup. There was one for sale in the next town over from mine for $2500 but try as I may I just couldn't raise the money in time and it was sold to someone other than me. Over the years my desire changed a bit to 40 Standard coupe and then settled in on 39 Deluxe. There's just somethings on the 39 I prefer to the 40. I've seen a few for sale over the years but just never found the right one for the right price or in the right condition.
About two months ago Elwood came to my shop with a 8BA Flathead he wanted some work done on and as usual we started talking cars. He has a 53 Mercury like mine and a few other but when he started to tell me about his 39 Coupe I got all warm and fuzzy inside. I told him if he ever wanted to sell to give me a call. He told me "my wife won't ever let me sell the 39, it's her favorite." Flash forward a month and a half when I get a call from Elwood telling me his 39 has developed a bit of a knock. he talks about what needs to be done to it and I say "sell it to me and you don't have to worry about it." He says to his wife "honey, can we sell the 39 to Tim? She's nodding yes Tim"
So I go south with a bunch of cash and now I finally after all these years have my 39 Deluxe Coupe. Better than a new car off the showroom floor. The knock? Engine sounds like most flatheads and runs fine. I will however be installing the 276ci Flatty that came out of my 27 T in the up comming months. Dreams do come true if you wait long enough.

WOW, that car is gorgeous and in fantastic condition. Very nice.

I do spy what looks like a Carter electric fuel pump. I have had a couple and I have always found them very loud. I am guessing/hoping it is just for priming and not constant use.

 

Beautiful car and looks real tidy too! Not many better looking cars than '39/'40 fords, enjoy it!

Very nice. Is it black or dark green? What are those wheels? Sort of look like artillery wheels, never seen them chromed. Good for you.
