They are stainless, overseas (Chinese probably), the welding is excellent, 3/8" thick flanges, and were a buck and a half. Couldn't see any reason not to give them a try.

Yeah, I had the choice to pad them, or furnish shin protectors for all the guys that come around.

  5. Have a bad encounter with frame horns and you will remember it forever.

Marty, good to see your truck is in paint. Hopefully they'll have a Portland swap meet next spring so I can come up and come by for a visit, and maybe your truck will be back together. be good, and I'll talk to you soon.

I bought those polished stainless headers off Fleabay for my '39 Chev project for a whopping $107 and free shipping. I'm amazed how good the quality is, and how thick the flanges are on the collector, and inlet flange.

John, good to hear from you, your not coming up Labor Day weekend ? I can't start assembling the truck until Fall, but it should be together by Spring. See you one of these days.

Geez Marty, I have to do a lot of body work to keep up with your truck. Those pics put me back a few months!

  12. Is there a P/N or an application, or do I just search fenderwell Headers. I'll head over to ebay and do some searching. Thanks.

Marty -- you might consider building a License Plate/Chute Tube for the Bonneville Roadster. It makes a roadster look like a Street Roadster. (No Licensing Agreement needed.)

Today, timing and weather was finally on my side, to pick up the cab and box at Duane Olofson's Acme Welding Body shop. He did the job as I had expected, with the paint laid down nice, right out of the gun ! I dropped more parts for him to paint in the coming weeks. The color is very light reactive. I'm not a painter so I'm always impressed with those guys that can lay down a good finish straight from the gun, I've seen a few, just shook my head.
Marty, is that the same Acme welding that I remember seeing painted on ?Ed McCullochs' funny car in the 70's?

I couldn't sleep in this morning, just had to bolt the side-boards on, to see the color contrast, of Mitch Kim's handiwork. Now back to the Bonneville Roadster. IMG_7114.JPG IMG_7115.JPG IMG_7116.JPG

I have to ask my wife to look at the color (I'm color blind at the blue end of the spectrum, it's all gray to me), but boy is that smooth and shiny. WOW!

  26. Marty, I'm gonna need a set of those motor mounts pal! I have one side of an original pair but have not been able to find a mate. You still coming to Hotrod-a-rama at the end of July? Dale

I made some progress on the Bonneville Roadster, got all the Dzus fastener tabs mounted, and the hood sides in place. Hopefully tomorrow, I can get the hood top formed up, fit, and fastened down as well. IMG_7120.JPG IMG_7124.JPG IMG_7128.JPG IMG_7135.JPG IMG_7138.JPG

Well, I got the hood done this weekend. A lot of tin snipping, filing, and shaping. IMG_7158.JPG IMG_7160.JPG IMG_7162.JPG
