I think a fellow that cant confidently raise his vehicle to safely work
on it needs a lot of help. After having this vehicle for over 20 years
and installing the body on the chassis? You say you modified the
firewall and did other modifications to the vehicle. Now you cant
figure out how to raise it safely? I think this thread is joke. Some one
is trying to see how ridiculous they can sound and doing a good job
    of it.

  3. It is true, some folks just should not work on cars.

I am still waiting to hear if this car has EVER been on the road or just a never ending project?

Found it. Couldn't see it at first. Emergency Brake cable was just touching the drive shaft.. No noise now
As far as the other stuff goes. I have always used cement blocks. Didn't know any different. I will find the pictures of when I had to take the body off the frame. 4 10' 4x4's, and 4 12' 2x10's bolted together with a 4x4 on top with a 12 winch bolted to that. Came up rather easy.
No. This is not a Joke. I am not pulling your chain. I needed your help and advice. It is nice to know that you can ask someone how to do things, besides youtube. Thank You Guys for all of your help.. Al

Cable buffing the driveshaft made that much noise?
Hmmm...Sounds promising... possibility of a way to play a practical joke on a nerd that bought a new hot rod!

Seriously, Al...Glad you found the problem. Had me tossing & turning last night...Tore your whole car apart in my head, abiding the grinding...then the chafing. Led to a strange nightmare, somewhere in Minnesota...

Good for you (and everyone else!) that the problem is now identified! :). I can't help but think that the noise that was being heard hasn't been somewhat exaggerated, but I wasn't there so what do I know! Anyways, relief all round!

A favorite practical joke with my circle of "friends" used to be putting several large zip ties on a drive shaft with the tails long enough to hit the floor pan...

  10. If you go back to the beginning,,,,,it was a “loud grinding coming from under the car “,,,,,I understand,,,I really do .

And then in post #2. It was mentioned,,,,”,something rubbing on the driveshaft”?

but,,,it never got looked at,,,,until now,,,,,glad it worked out.

Double pumper was onto it all along I guess .
    Good job man !

Thank You all again. When it is all done. I will post pictures. I think the main reason it has taken so long is that where I worked. We only got off one day per week, and every other weekend. Winter is cold here with no heat in the garage. I know excuses, but that is that. Al

  14. WINNER IS,,,,,,,,, driveshaft! who said driveshaft????

Wow, 8 pages with correct guess at post number two! That must be some kind of weird HAMB record. Glad Al finally got some satisfaction unlike Mick Jagger. And now I know when Doublepumper offers advice use it... LOL

I think that Al is a guy who wanted a hot rod really bad and had to do it on the cheap and without a lot of past experience. I think that it is great that folks here were willing to give thought to his problem and see him through to a resolution. I hope you get to enjoy that 37 Al.

  18. Glad you got it figured out Al :)

Keep at it, hopefully you'll get some time behind the wheel sooner than later (steering wheel that is :)).

Kudos to Al for getting his issue resolved. I'm glad for hum it was something very simple.

And most of all, THANKS Al for coming back to tell us all what it was.

  21. Good luck Al, way to go, now get to work to at least getting that37 to the point where you can safely drive it. You don't need a completely finished car to have fun. Mitch

It's fixed. Nice. I've gotten my share of guidance on here, certainly.

    pleased that you found it.......
it’s been an interesting thread and just proves the help guys on here want to give !

please don’t use cinder blocks, - if the same as our equivalent here, - no reinforcement in them, and as others have said, - definitely not intended for supporting cars.
