"For want of a railing, the coupe was lost". Well not really since you got it fixed already.

  4. Ugh. I had a push broom fall and hit the corner of my driver's quarter panel where it meets the trunk lid. It chipped a big chunk of paint off the car, which is of course stupid thick because Ray Charles painted this car with his feet.

Well...judging by WHICH cars you've got parked in there, if they were in opposite positions you'd have a much worse and sadder story to tell. Thankfully (I guess?) it was the hot rod - rods should always(ish) look a little beat on. :D

    Plus, friends are awesome.

Glad the damage wasn’t worse, and that Keith came through in a pinch. Sounds like you need a few more strategically placed security cameras though. Between trash bin fires and wayward beach cruisers, you could be building up quite a compilation.

  7. I hate to say it man but in a weird, sadistic way, this makes me feel good that I’m not the only one that shit like that happens too.

Glad it wasn’t more serious and it’s fixed.

Dude... This is literally the story of my life condensed in a couple of days.

I do something stupid. Tardel rescues me.

  9. Your lucky to have a buddy like Keith, I have to fix the bizarre shit that happens to me myself.

When I met my wife she was convinced I exaggerated my misfortunes, not anymore. I roll from one disaster to another.

A fast fix ,that is a good one,is relaxing. Funny storys pile up ,even with out trying.
    Thanks for the smile!

  12. That is crazy! I thought stuff like that only happened to me. I had a similar thing in my garage a month ago. While looking for a lost item, I knocked a part over that hit another part and fell on the fire extinguisher, setting it off in one big cloud. No damage but a mess to clean up.

  13. One of those "you would not believe it except here is the proof" stories for sure. Nice to see it was an easy enough fix.

I was so pissed off at it that I sold it to a neighbor... We don't speak of that god damned bike anymore.

I'll second @egads motion for a railing. If it can happen, it WILL:( I had a stairway going to the second floor in my shop that was open.........one of my girls directed me to put up a railing (now a short wall) so my grandson wouldn't be falling off:) One of the first things I did was to remedy that problem:) Now....with advancing age, I even have a rail to grab going up and down the stairs.

Thought I was the only one this stuff happens to. One night I heard a commotion in the garage. A damn raccoon had gotten in the rafters and knocked a piece of trim out of the rafters. I guess he somehow shoved the side door open-must have not been shut all the way. Dent in decklid of wife's 55 and he was running all around the rafters! Opened the door and he finally left. Got it fixed the same week.

Funny....but it’s Not! Is the New railing Up yet?

  22. Yes,,,I second the railing idea,,,,there is another accident just waiting to happen.
Murphy is never very far away !
Thank goodness no one was standing there at that instant.
The police would never believe it was an accident,,,they would say,,,,”sure,,,,right,,,,the neighbors have said there have been some arguments here lately! “

  23. For me, it's never just one thing falls. One thing falls and then the "domino effect" takes place. Guess I need to get more organized and eliminate some clutter. Glad your damage was minimal and Keith was there to help out.

  24. Lol, story of my life.
If I didn’t have bad luck I would have no luck at all !!
Glad it was an easy fix

Off topic wheels and tires were involved... had they been a set of bias plies it may never have happened. Radials are evil

Not only is gravity a good idea...it's the law.

Well, it's a good idea most of the time...until it bites you in the ass:(.
But, without gravity, all your parts would be stuck on the ceiling;)

I am with Mark - I have to admit that I cringed a little when I saw the wheels and tires:eek:...you need to see if the neighbor that you sold the bike to is also looking for wheels and tires:rolleyes:

    1. You touch shipping tube
    2. Shipping tube touches air cleaner
    3. Air cleaner touches misc boxes
    4. Misc boxes touch tires/wheels (radials as noted)
    5. tires/wheels touch sweet thing that shall no longer be mentioned
    6. Sweet thing that shall no longer be mentioned touches coupe

I do think this qualifies as Rube-Goldberg, but only just barely. You need more crap in your loft like the rest of us heavyweights, so you can get to at least double digit touches in your assembly. Seriously... you can still see the floor up there. And shelves for organizing? Sheesh!:D

I'm sorry this happened to you, and glad you have fantastic friends. Good friends are the best! I also agree with the other guys that you probably need a rail up there. I often notice Cody Wall's extra-beefy loft guard rail in his photos and assume he must have tested gravity at some point in time as well. Gravity always wins!
