  9. Thought I'd post up some stuff from years past.
#1 The painting of the front view of the T roadster was done on a leather cap I did for my grandfather about 1959 or 1960. I found the cap in my mother's apartment when she passed in 1987.Painted with Red Devil enamel it is a bit cracked but in relatively good shape.
#2 The Boston Strangler dragster I lettered about 1968.Thankfully my lettering skills have improved since then.
#3 Paul Burns' Spirit of 76 dragster was the first job I ever did in silver leaf.
#4 Wes' Auto Body Corvette I did around 1968.
#5 The companion car to Wes' car was this 56 Corvette I did shortly afterward.
#6 Mike Stevens' 34 Ford sedan got the rattle can flame job around 1972.
#7 through #13 is Charlie Burrows' 27 T roadster that I flamed with alklyd enamel unthinned and heated over a hot plate in his living room in 1974. His wife still complains about finding overspray when she cleans.
#14 My grandson Jake in his race car I painted for him when he about 3 1/2.
#15 & #16 The real thing: a recreation of the 1972 Indy 500 winner using the original engine & transaxle. The rest of the car was destroyed. I lettered and striped it.
    #17 through #26 Some of my creations using 1/2" optical grade Lexan. 1.JPG 2.JPG 3.JPG 4.JPG 5.JPG 6.JPG 7.JPG 8.JPG 9.JPG 10.JPG 11.JPG 13.JPG 14.JPG 15.JPG 16.JPG 17.JPG 18.JPG 19.JPG 20.JPG 21.JPG 22.JPG 23.JPG 24.JPG 25.JPG 26.JPG

Ike Iacono Racing Team So Cal

B/Altered Coupe and Sedan Class: IKE IACONO

    Hello,

Frank “Ike” Iacono was a well known and respected drag racer hot rod builder from So Cal. He creations were always a hit with the people at Lion’s Dragstrip. The color pattern of orange and black helped identify the race cars whenever they were in the pits or in the races. But his claim to fame was that instead of Flathead powered or SBC powered, his motors were the inline 6 cylinder motors of all different sizes and shapes.

Dale Lambrose ran this roadster (99 JR ) as a teammate to Frank "Ike" Iacano's '34 Ford Coupe (99), with both running GMC sixes on fuel.

Ike Iacono’s 1934 Ford three window coupe was famous for its records and instant identification at the dragstrip. But, most of the drag race people and spectators were more inclined to remember the fancy streamlined FED, also painted orange and black. It, too was powered by a 6 cylinder motor. We were unable to film the orange and black coupe or the roadster, but we did catch the original 6 cylinder FED racing at Lion’s Dragstrip in 1959-60 time period.

  25. Awesome show today fellas. One of the first Monster rod cartoons I recall seeing was Ed Roths "Dragsville", which an older cousin of mine had ordered as an iron on and applied to a t-shirt. Here's my take on it which sort of combines elements of a couple different cartoons.
