Jim McElreath in the Ollie Prather car at Indianapolis in 1962. This was during Jim's Rookie Test. Jim had run in IMCA when he first went to the Midwest with Johnny Rutherford in 1961 and he caught the eye of Lindsey Hopkins who offered Jim a ride in his car for the 1961 Hoosier 100. Jim qualified 14th and finished an impressive 3rd in his first USAC Champ Car race and that led to Jim getting the chance at Indianapolis for the 1962 Indy 500. per Bobby Marshall
