Tastes differ. I much prefer the rings that leave the outer edge of the rim exposed. The type that cover the rim edge were typically (in the US) used with “styled steel wheels” (aka Rally wheels, etc,).

As for rust, seeking trim rings made of stainless eliminates than problem. Yes, they cost more, but quality almost always does.

I think steel wheels look naked without them.

I tried rings on my roadster but I decided it looked better without. They're now wall art. DSC02253.JPG DSC02251.JPG

Well I see no reason to plate stainless , but it can be plated . Just a different luster than a nice polished look

This is why i ask about trim rings. At least it didn’t take out our rear skirt this time. But alas we were towing a camper ,and of course the camper mutilated the cap, we never found the caddy centre.

I don't like the squeaking and clicking going down the road.. Every set I ever had made a lot of noise..

I like the original shiny black wheels with quality chrome lug nuts or Moon Eyes full disc wheel covers.. They look so cool on any old Hot Rod.

When I bought my new 16” wheels from WV through Summit they said that trim rings would not fit on the 16x 4.5 front wheels.

I thought that suits me just fine.

Yes, I have stainless steel trim rings on one of my cars. The wheels are steel and ceramic coated to a nice almost chrome like silver. But I wanted a little more bling. I had a set of polished stainless trim rings, so I snapped them on and liked the look. No center hubcaps, just chrome lugnuts. I like it, and they've been on there for about 7-8 yrs. now.

what's really cool is an open wheeled hot rod with reversed wheels out back. can't run a trim ring facing outward but you can run one on the inside. doesn't get noticed unless you're inspecting it up close when it's parked. add some 45 fin drums separated by a quickchange and you got it really going on.
