Rocky comes through for me again . He shows up at the shop with some old footage of the Scribner Air Base 1953 55. This is a short version . My buddy is working putting together the entire footage around 30 mins . He will have it soon. The long video will show a 50’s fighter jet landing on the adjacent runway and the old Scribner Airbase building . Also a note I just learned . George Dare was the guy that had the black olds in the video . His last name is spelled wrong in the video and I say it wrong . My fault on that . George passed about 20 years ago . Thanks again Wayne
Great video, wicked little coupe. I would make one correction, the black Olds is a '49. Thanks for posting.
Holy shit, Tom! That's some amazing old footage. Gives me goosebumps. I bet some of the other cars in that video are still around here.
Cool video; could almost smell the fumes; also briefly saw a 5 window chevy pu Thanks for sharing the link Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Great video, thanks for sharing! Glad to see you bringing this car back to life, and researching it's history.
I used to see George Dare's 49 Olds sitting beside his mother's house in South O off Chandler and 18th with 2 parts cars until one day they were gone. Last week my buddy, Dar told me one was still left there! The driveway has a 1/2" cable strung across it. I need to go look and see which one is still there. If it's the black fastback in the video [with the tailights in the bumper guards] I'll have to buy it.
After seeing it in an alley 30 years ago. And finally having the opportunity to put my hands on it. I am so excited to find out as much as possible. Thank you for watching
Great video .... wow, vintage drag footage from the midwest, being from Iowa I've not seen any. That's the best time of Hot Rods
Here is the full length video from Scribner . At the end of the Scribner video there it’s jumps to 1965 . I am not familiar with that location
It looks like the video goes into the early 70's with some O/T funny cars and F.E.D's but over all a great video. Looks like you only got 57 views since 12:02 PM.
Lol, There is over 4 hours of footage off this DVD that I got from Rocky. I asked my buddy the computer guy who does the editing to stop it when you could start to see trees. He showed some newer stuff. I guy hit me up on a Facebook and said that newer stuff may be South Sioux City drag strip . (Hour North of Omaha NE. ) as far as the number of views I would consider my self bat boy or water boy status . 57 views is pretty solid .
Slid the 1949 303 Olds between the frame rails tonight . Trying to match the set back of the only hood less photo I have from the 1957 Bonneville trip . Thats Pops Fidel Fadlin .....
