With 500HP in that truck you'd need to buy stock in tires as well. SMOKE SHOW

My 19 yr old son Brooks and I are trying to build his Rambler as a sleeper. It came with a full set of dog dish hubcaps in the trunk so we are going to widen the rear rims and run the caps. At this point we have a small block Chevy, turbo 350 and a Ford 8” mocked up in it. 2BD58276-FD34-452A-B142-3B9DEE42BDDE.jpeg 2CF8B494-44E1-4078-8AB8-5B479F49CEAD.jpeg

I wonder how many people on here know anything about 461 X heads.

  9. There are some nice cars on this thread, I wouldn't mind owning any one of them.
However, I think there are very few actual sleepers on this thread.

Can imagine granny with her curlers in this aqua blue car, but as most of you know there was the max wedge option for 1964 b-bodies. This car was delivered with the 361 BB and later converted to 69 440HP with Max wedge cam, heads, cross ram and carbs. Havent got the budget for the repop HP manifolds, but used 1969 HPs instead. Probably as close as I get to building a "sleeper". 158653947_1120824648342767_2828803194072045106_o.jpg Deuce Rdstr motor 3 12 21 3.jpg

Not mine, I saw it enroute to 2016 Deuce Day. Not the real deal but a very nice car nonetheless

Small block Ford, 345 crank horsepower with a T5Z transmission Car and Driver famously swapped a Pontiac Sprint Six into an E-Type, eventually putting triple Webers on it. My Dad bought a new LeMans in 67 with the Sprint option. Went great, although he opted for the PowerGlide. 70 mph before it changed gears.

Didn't Chevy make one of these manifolds for the 302?

Wow is that Dodge nice!! But guys, get those damn plastic fuel filters off there. I wonder how many cars were destroyed from them catching fire..

Not as good as some of these but it surprises a few people still. It’s ran a 12.75 @114 on the shitty Coker Bias plies. I asked at the Meltdown Drags if they’d let me make a pass with the bikes on back but they wouldn’t. I drove it 400 miles to the HAMB Drags with the bikes on back unloaded everything, ran it then we went on vacation for the next week. 56F45013-BA2A-4F6D-AA8B-66D77A46D807.jpeg C4DE23AB-C8AC-429C-AF35-CBEDB0FE2381.jpeg

Chevy did have a cross ram manifold for the 302. It wasn't factory installed. You would receive your Z/28 with the single 4 barrel and the dual quad cross ram set up was in the trunk for you to install.
    Cool stuff

  21. My 33 pickup was quite the sleeper in the early 90s when my grandpa first built it. It ran in the street heavy class at the local 1/8th mile. Class was mainly big block muscle cars, he was the only 30s rod in the class and usually every week he would get it down into the quarter to semi finals, but the buggy rear spring setup and radial tires were just not conducive to consistent passes when running bracket. It ran in the 7's in the 1/8th and then high 12's at 110 in the 1/4 and not once ever really hooking up. The few VHS taps of passes you can hear it squealing most of the time, but every couple of weeks somebody would get out of their 396,426, insert big block car and come over wondering what the hell was under the hood this little old pickup that beat them.
