  1. Here's a 9:36 min drone flyover of FL, mute it if you dont like CCR. Nice aerial shots on a clear day.

  3. Wow! that drone video is awesome..be neat if some local HAMBers could visit that yard along with Windy Hills, and get pics for us guys who don't live close by.
Been to both of these yards in the past they are national monuments!
Do either yards sell complete cars?

When I was working I would stop in there every day to pick up freight,I was like a kid on Christmas morning waiting to see what I was picking up. They ship an unbelievable amount of freight by truck.

They used to, perhaps still do, have a truck load a month coming up from AZ to supply us poor folks in the salt belt with rust free doors/cabs/ box's etc. It really is quite an operation

  9. How many acres, and how many vehicles ? The only yard that I have seen similar to that is Turner's Auto Parts in Fresno, California, which as 70 acres AND 10,000 vehicles, as well as 2 airplane runways that are now used for more vehicles.

  10. 100 acres and "hundreds of vehicles" according to their webpage. Main thing is its hundreds of vehicles WE like, not 100 minivans and 8 gutted pre1964 cars like most yards. And they keep it neat and organized, no cars piled on top of the car you want or covered in sticker bushes.

So a few years ago at a local Supernationals show, a gal shows up form Cali with her grandads survivor.
It was interesting talking to her and I was intrigued and ask her why she moved from Cali to Tajique, NM.
She said 'so she could have resource piles without anyone giving her grief for it'
From then on I've always referred to my junk as 'resources' and if I pile it up...it's a resource pile.
Looks like French Lake is a super Resource Yard! Thanks for sharing...

  12. As a sidebar, several years ago, Mark drove the 61 to Salina. Make no mistake, it is a nice car. I'm in agreement that a 4 speed will make it "nicer". Mark, do you have the factory plate that I have seen around the shifter on those? I don't know if they were a specific option for Impala's or were available for all 4 speed cars from 61 to 63 , I think.

I started going to French Lake 45 years ago. They had way more cars back then, but it's still a great resource today !

Tony, the window moldings are the hard parts to find. I know there is another article about this update, I think a George Barris "how-to" with a candy (?) blue Vette on the cover.
